#166856 Hooking up Wii U to computer monitor

Posted by routerbad on 04 February 2013 - 12:24 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

You can use HDMI to DVI conversion, but you'll need to check ebay to find a conversion cable with audio out so you can bridge the line into your speakers.

If your monitor supports component you can use that as well, but I had an issue with excessive overscan when I tried that.

#196899 Injustice: Gods Among Us to receive patch support on Wii U

Posted by routerbad on 19 April 2013 - 09:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Injustice: Gods Among Us is not without its problems, but that’s something we’ll be going further into with our review next week. Fans have been voicing their outrage over the lack of custom matches in particular, making it nearly impossible to play with friends. One fan took to Twitter, asking one of the developers at NetherRealm whether or not the Wii U version would be receiving patch support. Thankfully, that answer is yes.

It’s disheartening that the Wii U version of the game launched without this feature and NetherRealm has not offered the season pass DLC deal as it will to other consoles, but at least the developer isn’t abandoning the game entirely.

Awesome news.

#185605 Nintendo lifts EU eShop restrictions

Posted by routerbad on 23 March 2013 - 12:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Wii U owners in Europe could only purchase 18+ rated games (like ZombiU) from 11PM until 3AM — a ridiculous setup no matter how you cut it. Because Nintendo is based in Germany, and because Germany wants to censor protect its children, Nintendo applied to rule to all of Europe.

Now there’s some good news. Nintendo has lifted the Wii U eShop restriction, which means you can purchase 18+ rated Wii U games on the eShop whenever you want. And even the Germans will get to buy 18+ games whenever they want. This is because Nintendo struck a deal with German censors at USK to get rid of the silly rule.

#171083 Hi (and silly support question)

Posted by routerbad on 13 February 2013 - 10:30 AM in Introduction Central

Once you are in Wii mode put the gamepad down! Pair a wii remote and interact the exact same way you would on the Wii itself. The gamepad shuts off in Wii mode.

Also, sometimes you have to re pair the wii remote (usually just hit a button) and once you can interact with the interface you are good to go.

#167826 Miiverse problem!

Did you get a display model or something?  factory reset and start over.  Otherwise, go to mii maker and make sure the display photo is set to what you want it to be.

You have to also download the demo for the pack you bought.  It sounds dumb because it is...

#223967 FF XV is running on DX11

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 06:22 AM in General Gaming

"Now, though, we're developing on DirectX 11, not based on the PS4 or the Xbox One. This lets us develop full-spec without worrying about individual platforms, then port it to each console in the most appropriate way. As a result, the original Final Fantasy XV runs on a pretty high-spec PC, and how close a console gets to this original depends on its specs." - Tetsuya Nomura

http://www.ign.com/a...inal-fantasy-xv

So they are scaling it down for PS4 and Xbone, and a "full version" may come in the future for hardware capable? Then why no goddamn Wii U version?! Either they're full of rainbow or it's the slow sales of Wii U that does it, but with that logic how can they support PS4 and Xbone which have 0 sales yet since they aren't out yet except for some few preorders maybe if that counts.

This proves more fully that DX11 has nothing to do with it not coming to the Wii U.  They just don't want to do it, or Microsoft's money smelled sweeter.

This means they are developing the engine on PC with DX11, they'll port the engine to each of the platforms based on the environment there.  Nothing technically is holding them back from Wii U, except themselves.

#187045 WiFi Question

Posted by routerbad on 27 March 2013 - 02:07 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

If it's not too expensive an extra I don't see why not.

5jiggahertz will probably be more loved with n's successor.

Wii U uses n, but I'm not sure if it's mimo or whatever it's called where it uses both to make it full duplex.

I think the upad uses 5, but not sure and won't have anything to do with your router.

True, 802.11ac runs purely on 5GHz.  I believe it does support mimo, but remember for mimo to work every connected device on your wireless network must be running at wireless N.  If there is a device that is running at g it lowers the mode to g for the entire network.

#223979 The lego movie

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 06:46 AM in The Café

Well there's me so that's one lol :P I really find it cool how it is in stop motion instead of it being animated! Interesting! :P

I like that as well.  It could be CGI set to look like stop motion though.

Looks hilarious.  How many people who called the LEGO games "kiddie" are going to go see this movie?

#187021 WiFi Question

The Wii U is a/b/g/n if I'm not mistaken, so it will support 2.4+5.0 dual band.

#200307 HD Monitor & The Wii U's Wii compatibility.

Posted by routerbad on 26 April 2013 - 08:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software Help

I have the choices of the following on my monitor.

Full

Overscan

1:1

Overscan stretches it a bit, but not much. The rest keep it as it is.

Hmm, what display options are in the Wii mode settings menu?

#200267 HD Monitor & The Wii U's Wii compatibility.

You have to set the monitor to either zoom or stretch to get rid of the border, the best setting is probably maintain aspect ratio, and I think there is an option in the Wii mode system settings to change resolution.

Are you sure you didn't set your port forwarding at some point for the 360?

#174608 Sony listens to sexism criticisms - and responds

Posted by routerbad on 22 February 2013 - 04:03 PM in General Gaming

In America typically equal opportunity actually ends up meaning creating blatantly sexist or racist employment programs to satiate victim groups.  An employer hiring you because you are a minority or female is just as racist or sexist as not hiring for the same reasons.  Mention that hiring decisions should be made only on merit gets people called opressive.

#179990 Black ops 2 Nat type question.

Posted by routerbad on 06 March 2013 - 03:01 PM in Wii U Games and Software Help

Yes sure, just did auto setup on the 360s. I did have to do a manual setup on the WiiU as it would not go online.

Unless your gateway has custom NAT/PAT settings that you can play with (not likely at all) you could try giving the Wii U a static IP and setting it in the DMZ on your network and see what that does.

#177720 Nintendo E-Shop

Posted by routerbad on 28 February 2013 - 07:42 PM in General Gaming

I think OP's talking about coins. Club Nintendo doesn't have points or eShop credit. Of course you can't trade in coins for credit, that would be them giving you money back on every purchase, and would make zero business sense. There are club Nintendo rewards you can use your coins on.

#178946 Soooo

I hope so.  I've been posting links on miiverse to that end, especially when I know that devs are watching.

#170150 PS4 to be paired with Kinect rivalling ‘dual camera?

Posted by routerbad on 11 February 2013 - 07:50 AM in General Gaming

Thus adding to the overall cost of the console, where are those $400 rumors now? I've always thought the PSEyeCam was a useless gimmick, and that won't change. Interesting that when Nintendo does it VG media call it a gimmick, when Sony or MS do it, it's groundbreaking and innovative.

It would be awesome, though I wouldn't expect it for a while yet.

#175205 Question Cencerning the Wii U

Posted by routerbad on 23 February 2013 - 07:59 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Okay, so I just got my Wii U today and there's a question i want to ask before I unbox it and set it all up.Is it best to let it charge before doing all the set up and update? Because I've read a few threads on here a few months back before I decided to become a member that a few people had trouble with their Wii U gamepads after setting it up and everything because it wasn't fully charged.

It won't auto shutdown during the update, so just plug in the cradle, set it in and leave it there while it does it's thing.
