PS4 is Schwarzenegger
Xbox One is Stallone

Wii U is Van Damme
That is how I see things but don't ask me for my reasoning:p

Wii U Hardware
If I were to buy it? Well...
What we do know is that Nintendo is going for some kind of unified architecture for their next systems, and by that reasoning they must be similar. The big issue with x86 is that it doesn't scale down that well to portable devices. In addition to Iwata's statement from last year where he mentioned that the next system(s) will "absorb the Wii U architecture adequately" I don't see them going down that road to try to garner 3rd party support that has history has proven, to be shady at best.
If they actually did go to bog standard x86 then you can definitely kiss legacy support goodbye. Everything goes back to zero, no backwards compatibility, drip fed virtual console titles for the third time, digital content stays sandboxed on last gen (PS3/Xbox 360 say hello), more frequent remasters (Zelda U 4k edition!) ect. Imagine that for a second.
No, I would probably not buy.

Wii U Hardware
Here's what I want to see with the next hardware(s).
One Platform / Multiple Hardware Configurations - One software platform and ONE library. By this I mean any game can run on the console or handheld ect. Just spec'd different to the device (i.e better effects and higher res on console, portability on the other) This would in addition, free up dev teams in between big games to try new things, like come up with new properties or resurrect dormant IP.
Universal Accounts - Everything tied to your NNID and NOT the hardware. Games, DLC, VC, and everything else is easily accessible on any device. This is all pretty self-explanitory.
Backwards Compatibility - All 3ds and Wii U games playable. All Virtual Console and digital goods carry over with no extra charge or upgrade fee. Of course this would all depend on the controller interface for next gen, if they keep dual screens or not ect.
I would be happy if the next console was PS4+ level of power at a sub $300 price tag. Graphics alone don't impress me anymore but I expect it to be at least that powerful with the 4DS(?) at about Wii U level seeing as mobile tech has come a long way in the last few years.
I also honestly don't major third parties are EVER making a return to nintendo consoles again, at least not the western ones anyway. I think they're better off improving their relationships with indie devs and more home grown 3rd party support like they had on the N64 to offer more diversity in their lineups.

Hey fellow gamers, first time posting. Hope everyone is doing well! I look forward to discussing all things Ninty but first wanted to introduce myself, and shed a little background on myself.
I like many started gaming on the NES. We recieved the "Challenge set" for Xmas in 1990 so the first games I ever really played were SMB3 / Metroid / Duck Hunt / Zelda ect. Later got a Super NES (and Genesis) which pretty much defined my childhood years, which of course then led my getting the N64 and later the Gamecube my freshman year of high school. So many memories.
I always ended up getting the Playstations later on in the generation (actually only owned a ps3 last gen because I couldn't track down a Wii the first few years so just played with family, now I can luckily catch up on the back back catalogue on Wii U) but was always more of a Nintendo guy. I guess their games fits my personality better? I've never owned an Xbox system but have been into PC from time to time.
Well that's it for now. Peace out!

Wii U News
I am not a fan of their style in the metroid concept art.. from a little while back. Either way I am pretty sure we'll see a Metorid for Wii U and 3DS announced at e3, for 2016 release.
I'm not really much of a fan of that artstyle myself, looks like something straight out of cartoon network lol. I'm really hoping we get another Retro developed Metroid though next year, with a 2d entry this fall on the 3ds looking at the gaping hole in release schedule. If Next Level is in fact doing a Wii U game I'd like to see something different for a change. Perhaps a Wario title or Takamuras Ninja Castle, anything really.

When they say they're getting "better and better IP to with" that leads me to believe that whatever that they are working on now isn't a sequel to a past game like Luigi, Punch-Out, Strikers ect. but another franchise. What that is is anyone's guess. Maybe they'll knock us for a loop at E3 and annouce that they're working on metroid and Retro has a new IP? hmmm...
