The Café
I went to a concert a little over a week ago. Steven Wilson, the leader singer of Porcupine Tree and one of two members of Blackfield, was performing.
It was my first time hearing any of his solo stuff, and I was completely blown away. He's such an interesting character to watch on stage, too, flailing his arms around to the beat of the drums like an erratic conductor, barefoot for his hatred of shoes and indifference toward social norms.
Most of his songs near the ten-minute mark, so while this isn't my favorite from his newest album, I'll share it because it's one of the shorter ones:

Currently, I'm trying to beat:
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Meanwhile, I'm trying to 100%:
- Ōkami HD
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
And on the side, I'll play games I've already beaten, such as:
- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
- Splatoon
- Fantasy Life
I've actually already attained 100% completion for Ōkami, but that was on the Wii. Now there are trophies involved, and...I need them.

Introduction Central
As it says in the title, my name is Abby, and as of today I'm a member of the Wii U Forums. Suppose I'll share a little bit about myself, eh?
- I own an N64, a GameCube, a Wii, a Wii U, a DSi, a 3DS, a New 3DS, a combo NES/SNES system, and most recently, a PS3, when I realized that owning one would expand my accessible games by a large margin. I can't play games on my PC because my laptop isn't suited for games.
- In addition to playing video games, I also enjoy reading and writing. My favorite book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
- I don't watch much TV outside of a few cartoons and anime; currently watching Steven Universe, next on the list is Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. My favorite show of all time is Avatar: The Last Airbender, and my favorite anime is probably Space Dandy.
- I'm a high school graduate.
- I currently work at a Subway.
- My favorite video game series is The Legend of Zelda. Other favorites include more obscure titles such as Ōkami and Chibi-Robo. (RIP his franchise, my dear, sweet child, you don't deserve platforming...)
- My Wii U titles include Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Rayman Legends, Splatoon, The Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and a great many other virtual console titles that I won't bother listing, because who has time for that?
Aaaaaand that's all I can think of at the moment! Feel free to ask me any questions or tell me a little bit about yourselves. I've been playing a bunch of Splatoon lately, and while the game itself is rather fun, I have my share of complaints...

Hello, Tom. Finally, a sane person amidst the crazies. Are you looking forward to Happy Home Designer at all?
EDIT: Hiya, Yoshi. You got a favorite Zelda game, or what?

51 hrs. First time playing it.
I'm about 35 hours in, so I'm going to presume you're further than me; I've finally picked up the pace with the game, though, I expect to beat it within the next two weeks. Are you enjoying it so far?

I've never met this Mignaga person before, but he seems like a major loser. Would anyone else care to introduce themselves?
EDIT: Hello Dantebask, and SolxBurst. Nice avatar. ![]()
EDIT #2: I'm playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3D at the moment. Shulk and his friends need to shut their mouths.

I'm doing the same. Hi-five! Though I enjoy the dialog.
How many hours are you into the game? I know it's a fairly long one. Is this your first time playing Xenoblade Chronicles, or did you play it on the Wii?

Shouldn't be too difficult, from the looks of it. Is there an official list of all the gear currently present in this game floating about on the Internet yet?
I'm a completionist by nature, so I buy everything I have the money for. I'm going to replay all the story missions for research notes here soon, but I suppose I'll do my amiibo missions first.

I got my 3-pack in the mail today. The game is fun--there's not doubt about that--but even with all of the "updates" that I know are coming, that doesn't keep me from having some complaints about it. Things they likely won't change, such as:
- No mic with friends. (I wouldn't want a global mic, especially not from a Nintendo game.)
- Separating Turf Wars from Splat Zones with Regular Battle vs. Ranked Battle. To my understanding, the various game modes they'll be adding the future will also be Ranked only, which doesn't make much very much sense; in order to play Ranked, you have to reach Level 10 (understandable), but the only way to level up is by via Turf Wars, a game mode that isn't even included under the Ranked Battles? What if I want to play Splat Zones with friends, without worrying about my rank going up or down? Turf Wars require map awareness and a level of stealth; why isn't there an option for Ranked Turf Wars? If they were to keep the current lobby format (Ranked, Regular, With Friends), then after choosing Ranked or Regular, you should then move on to choose Turf Wars or Splat Zones, and in the future Tower Control, etc.
- I know this was done so players can choose a gear and weapon loadout for the two maps in rotation, but the two maps every two hours limitation is a lot more irritating then I thought it would be. It has happened more than a few times where I'll get stuck on the same map for more than six or seven games in a row, and with six maps now available, I don't see why this has to be an issue. If the maps were chosen from the entire pool and at random, then some people would be at an advantage, and others at a disadvantage, but no one had any way of knowing, so the game is still fair. An easy fix.
- And finally, my most of minor of complaints: customization. While I love the options we're given, I wouldn't mind a store that specializes in bottoms, and another in hairstyles; as-is, I have a very difficult time telling any of the characters apart. I only know one person who plays as the Squid Boy (not to mention my Inkopolis is 90% Squid Girls) because everyone else agrees that her design is just better, and I think hairstyles would add more variety to the mix. Not a big deal, but it would be neat.
And there's my take on Nintendo's newest IP. It's original, I love the style, the mechanics are smooth--I've even managed to get used to using the GamePad--but nothing is perfect.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't see why using the pro controller isn't an option. It's compatible in the 1 v. 1 Battle Dojo; why not in single player? I can imagine various ways of getting around the currently necessary tapping of the GamePad screen to superjump to one of your teammates.

Nintendo wanted to make use of the gamepad, which they did. In turf war it's actually pretty useful for seeing the battlefield and spawning/flying to teammates. Also, the motion control aspect I think is quite innovative and accurate with regards to aiming. I know some people turn it off but I prefer it.
It's a new IP, so lots can be tweaked and changed but I think the controls will remain at least for this....
The game is refreshing not only in game play mechanics but art style, color etc. I am glad the game has it's own identity and didn't get pushed into being another Mario title.
Being a new IP, clearly Nintendo is going to tweak things and continue working on the game well past the free content yet to come.
Don't get me wrong, I love using the GamePad, and even if the pro controller were mad compatible, odds are I would continue to use it. All I meant by my post is that I don't see why the pro controller couldn't be compatible; a map could easily be displayed on the TV, and like I've already said, I can see ways around the tapping to superjump.

Wii U Hardware
My old 3DS went through a period of a couple weeks where the R button refused to work (this happened when I was playing Dream Team, a game where the R button is necessary for advancement). So, I stopped playing, and moved onto different games, but I found that when I went back, the button had begun to work again on its own. Sometimes things might act broken, but you just have to give them time. Who knows? Maybe there's a crumb or something stuck under your analog stick, and you just need to wiggle it around a bit more.
I don't think you should send it in quite yet. If the problem persists within the next couple weeks, however, you might have no other option than to send the thing to Nintendo to be fixed.

#313715 Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories Heading to Wii U This Winter

From the looks of Lost Valley, I'd say there's a match's chance in a rainstorm that I'll be picking up this game.
Even if it were a "real" Harvest Moon game, the game itself just looks bad. I can't say anything of this game yet, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Saying they plan to "go back to the roots" does sound promising, though...
I'm actually in the middle of debating whether I should buy Harvest Moon: Story of Seasons or Rune Factory 4 (both 3DS). It's difficult because I except Story of Seasons to be a lot like A New Beginning, and I'm not sure that I want more of the same, but Rune Factory 4 also has over-the-top character designs and a ridiculous premise. (You're royalty.) But man, my life has been significantly lacking in fantasy farming sims lately...
