I saw this on my local news, no joke.
So that means the public actualy cares about Nintendo making smartphone games?
I wonder what NX is. It's either a new handheld, or some kind of fusion platform.

honestly, what Ninteneo needs (except for Metroid, we will always need moar Metroid until they start milking the franchise which they won't)
is a proper 3D Mario
I liked SM3DW, but we need something like SMG.

Not quite, doesn't rule anything out really... maybe not a new 3d mario game on Wii U but maybe a remaster of galaxy(s) or sunshine , wishful thinking of course.
I think they mean they will "reinvent" Mario by the time the new system has been released?

Funny thing is the poster of that info admitted to faking it all. Either got lucky on the date or just a fake admitting a fake or whatever. Only time will tell, I will take any direct with a surprise or two.
Can you source me on that?

Legit Direct Date/Times,

Rumor stuff below
http://www.reddit.co...ak_that/cpvar3s
It's rumoured for april 1st. This seems pretty legit, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt. It's about time for a New Direct, and they usually air on wednesdays. And yes, this might very well be a April's Fool's Joke.
What doesn't seem legit is the fact that N64 games will be upscaled to 720p and will be made widescreen. That would be a big task for Nintendo.
Pokemonrumbleworld.com has apparently been patented by Nintendo though

So.. the rumors might acdtually be true now. April 1st 3:00pm (albeit for Germany, and not the US) was confirmed by it. We'll see. If they show a proper Paper Mario and Star Fox I'll be a happy man until E3.

Do we know if the game's headed for Xbox 360 and PS3? Cause I'm really getting tired of those 2 consoles and devs should focus more on getting the best out of better hardware.

"There should be little to no similarity to the Wii and Wii U"
This is important. The Wii was a succesful fad from 10 years ago, but people got over it. Core gamers don't really like it and casuals moved on. They need something new. I also think they should stop the DS branding. Nintendo needs something new that makes people go "Wow, this looks so cool and trendy, I need it!"

yeah that is the easiest route i think
the path with the goombas is also a way of completing it, it takes you to an area where you get yoshi but i think it is slightly more challenging
these are the two most challenging levels i've played, i really want to beat them both but i get so frustrated
Even I get frustrated with my own level. No one else has beaten this level so far, I tend to think it's too hard and I should make easier levels.

Nice levels guys.
I would really, really appreciate it if you'd check out some of my levels. I created a very difficult level (took me at least 50 tries, finetuning and all.) I would like to apologize for an unfair death after the first blue platform, but all the other parts are fun tricky jumps. I spent a lot of time on it, but no one really seems to play it. I also have some fun medium-challenges.
The code is 70EB-0000-0038-2840. Good luck guys.

E3 2015
I'm not that excited for E3 this year to be honest... they will only talk about 2015 games, and we already lots of "big" games coming this year, so how much else interesting new games could they possibly reveal? After they said Zelda won't be shown this E3, I officially lost hope for it to be as good as last year (which doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to it anyhow)
However I mustn't forget the fact that SM3DW was revealed at E3 and released the same year and it was an excellent game. So maybe they'll do something similar with a game like Metroid, who knows... Just not getting my hopes up.

I loved Iwata and I will miss seeing him announce Nintendo greatness. Directs and E3 will never be the same.

I have a really specific question if anyone knows the answer. Have ALL of the abillites of the respective generations been preserved? The one I'm thinking of in particular is the SMW ability to throw shells upwards. If I remember rightly, that only existed in that generation. They removed it for the more recent games and you could only throw shells left or right.

Throwing shell upwards confirmed.

Not bad, but disappointing compared to the 100 levels were told previously. But I heard Nintendo will make new levels and release them online as well, so whatever.
The only downside so far is that there seem to be some elements missing that I would like to return. People have done many things with golden shells in lunar magic, for example. I also love chargin' chucks, baby Yoshi's, SMB2 Vegetables and vertical levels (especially the ones without walls). Stuff like this and maybe an overworld editor would make good DLC.

I hope it is. It makes for smoother gameplay and could be used for simple puzzles and such. Keep me posted if you find out.

It won't be just a portable that inexplicably gets a "boost" if it just so happens to connect to a competitors console. That would cause developers to have to develop two games for one system - or one very high end game that utilizes low LOD when it is mobile only. Not worth the investment for those who will only use the mobile unit.
NX is a codename used to describe a NINTENDO family of hardware units that share data with each other with each utilizing a similar architecture for ease of cross hardware game and app development. The mobile system can share the "same" game data with the "beefy" home based unit allowing for high fidelity gaming at home and the "same" game (using shared saved data), but at a lower fidelity while on the road. Actually surprised no one has done this before.
Other Nintendo hardware units as well as some existing and future competing hardware units (phones, tablets, etc.) will join the home console and mobile unit to run Nintendo software to be called cohesively, the NX platform. Still just a codename. Pretty ambitious stuff.
Interesting concept.
Am I the only one who envisioned the NX as a handheld device that can be connected to a TV using streaming technology? The NX would cost more than an average handheld because of its ability to stream HD gaming with performances similar to last gen consoles to a TV. Its selling point would be that you can play the games wherever you like, also on your TV. I'm struggling to explain this idea, but I hope it's understandable.

I'm equally hyped and skeptical about this concept.
A unified console would mean that you can play all new Nintendo games without having to buy two platforms (Wii U and 3DS right now). It would allow for the same titles to be played on the go and on your TV. It would be backwards compatible with Wii U and 3DS because the handheld could be used as a Gamepad/second screen. Gamepad-like ideas (second screen maps etc.) could still be applied. The console would be powerful enough to gain respect and 3rd party support.
This sounds like a dream, but could it work?
"industry leading chips" would be very expensive. The PS4 is $350 right now. It's a console with a normal controller. The NX would have to be more powerful and deliver a second screen at the same time. The handheld part of NX would need its own CPU, GPU, RAM, you name it... This together would cost at least $500. The current customers who would buy a 3DS are those that probably don't want to spend a lot of money on a platform. NX would be more expensive as a PS4 or Xbox One. This is problematic.
From the information given, it sounds like NX will be both a console and a handheld bundled together. A console to plug into your tv, and a handheld for on the road. I assume the handheld would be the controller? Processing power on the handheld would be a lot weaker than on the console version. Now if the NX wouldn't be trying to compete with PS4 power specs, we could have something more realistic..
A handheld device that you can connect to your tv. Imagine a handheld with the power of a PS3 for example. You could take that on the road, but you could also stream it to your TV (think of something like ChromeCast). This would be more likely to sell than an actual hybrid console, meaning two seperate devices.
