#150527 Ubisoft Poised to Purchase THQ Assets

Posted by Crackkat on 21 December 2012 - 12:44 PM in General Gaming

Ubisoft is my favourite third party so this makes me very happy, but also I can't help but worry a little when I see a company I really like pay loads of money, so hopefully it pays off for them

#150524 Aliens Colonial Marines Thread

Posted by Crackkat on 21 December 2012 - 12:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Have we actually seen any actual WIIU footage of this game yet? seen loads of trailers clips etc, but wants to see actual wiiu gameplay footage, its meant to be the best version after all, or something like that?

We've seen snippets, nothing long enough for a comparison though, and no gameplay that shows the gamepad integration, so we'll have to wait a little longer for that. plus graphics are often improved at the final stages of development so it wouldn't make a difference if we had seen it already

#149930 This is the silliest response from a developer/producer yet

Posted by Crackkat on 20 December 2012 - 05:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

gamepad is preety much a wider PS360 controler with a screen. i was disapointed i cant play assasions creed on the pads screen.

you can, pause the game and go into settings/options and there will be an option to play entirely on the gamepad screen :)

#149929 Miiverse: Posting only in games?

Posted by Crackkat on 20 December 2012 - 05:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

i think if there were a universal community it would be too busy since the number of posters would be the size of the console's install base and that would be too large :P

#149630 This is the silliest response from a developer/producer yet

Posted by Crackkat on 19 December 2012 - 11:59 AM in Wii U Games and Software

this makes sense. the install base is currently less than 1 million, so basically developers will only port games they know will sell well to make sure they get some profit. they believe that early adopters will buy the games that make use of the system's new capabilities the most e.g. zombi u. They don't think the wii u version of metal gear will stand out against pikmin, wonderful 101, bayonetta, lego city and rayman which have been built for the wii u. therefore they don't believe that this game should be ported now cos the currently small install base will not buy it when they can buy other games that make use of the new system better.

#149236 John Carmack: "A lot of next gen games will still target 30 fps."

Posted by Crackkat on 18 December 2012 - 09:02 AM in Wii U Hardware

Great share, thanks. I personally think this is quite common sense to be honest. Developers want better textures and higher poly counts and more players in online lobbies. How could next gen allow that to happen at the same time as higher frame rate and resolution

#146666 Weird glitch?

Posted by Crackkat on 11 December 2012 - 01:21 PM in Wii U Hardware

You should never remove any disc from any system while it's running that game.

#146329 The Wii U is the greenest console compared to the 360 and PS3

Posted by Crackkat on 10 December 2012 - 01:26 PM in Wii U Hardware

well this is very good to hear :) makes me feel better about playing it for hours :P in a time of recession, it might be handy to pop that info into an advert sometime though, could sway some people perhaps

#146258 Nintendo confirms German law to blame for Europe-wide Wii U eShop 18+ content

Posted by Crackkat on 10 December 2012 - 09:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't see Germany changing its laws for Nintendo so I don't think this issue will be resolved

#145972 Do I have defective hardware?

Posted by Crackkat on 09 December 2012 - 02:11 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

i recommend you contact nintendo, not your retailer because nintendo can move your NNID over to the new system which the retailer probably can't

#142073 Club Nintendo stars in eshop?

Posted by Crackkat on 02 December 2012 - 09:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

the club nintendo catalogue may have vouchers on it, which you can use on the eshop but there isn't a more direct way so far, as far as I'm aware

#141616 How long is zombieU?

Posted by Crackkat on 01 December 2012 - 04:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software Help

This is exactly why I never bought it, it looks incredible, but I'm simply not the kind of guy that can play or watch a horror :P I plan on playing it at my friend's house because like you said, I find these things less stressful with other people around. As for the time, no clue, will tell you if my friend finishes it.

#139204 Anyone else Pre Order from HMV in UK?

Posted by Crackkat on 27 November 2012 - 01:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

I have a friend who pre ordered from HMV but he did it in October so he hasn't had this issue. If you go to their website, it says "nintendo has informed us that stock will be tight so if you pre ordered after the 5th of November you may have to wait until December 15th for your system" or something along those lines

#136401 Zombie U 2 wishlist....

Posted by Crackkat on 22 November 2012 - 02:47 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I think a sequel is very likely. I have no sales figures but the impression I'm getting is that Zombi U has sold a tonne (for a launch title). So I think the team is already planning/working on a Zombi U sequel, because I'm so sure they wanted to do so much more with the first one but the limited budget and time stopped them. The sequel will probably be awesome :)

#134645 Future update to GamePad?

Posted by Crackkat on 20 November 2012 - 11:43 AM in Wii U Hardware

I might be picky but my phone is 3.5 inch, and I don't think I could use it if it wasn't HD. I'd rather have more uses, than how well it works with a stylus.
Although, personally, I don't think I'll be using the Gamepad for 6 years I'll probably go towards a pro controller mostly.

Of course it's totally personal opinion, but I personally think it's pointless to judge until you've tried it. Personally I will be using the pro controller only for local multiplayer, I think the gamepad is way too comfortable to replace with the pro controller. In my opinion it's just superior in every way. As for your ability to see the resolution on your 3.5 inch phone screen, you are quite extra ordinary as most people simply can't so you can understand why nintendo didn't spend extra money making it HD since the average person can't see it.

#134621 Future update to GamePad?

Posted by Crackkat on 20 November 2012 - 11:23 AM in Wii U Hardware

Resistive is more accurate and works with a stylus better. Doesn't need HD because its so small. Nintendo's next console will probably launch no later than 2018/9

#134581 Are the bricked Wii Us actually just on autopilot?

Posted by Crackkat on 20 November 2012 - 10:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hey everyone this here is a must read article about the Wii U's hardware problems and how they are actually not what they seem. According to this, the "bricked consoles" are merely continuing the download when restarted after being turned off incorrectly and that the OS doesn't show up because the system is on autopilot to continue the update before doing anything else. Also it says you can download the update in the background. Do you think these guys are right?

#134178 Developer on GAF already talked about wii u specs in the past

Posted by Crackkat on 19 November 2012 - 10:26 PM in Wii U Hardware

maybe it is if you build the game form the ground for the wii u, but it seems that if you want to make a game for the wii u FROM a 360 version of that game the thing gets harder

Vigil made darksiders 2 for Wii U, was not built from the ground up. By default they have more credibility than this guy especially since they said it on video

#133821 Dont worry, This is normal

Posted by Crackkat on 19 November 2012 - 03:35 PM in Wii U Hardware

I just feel bad for the odd person who's Wii U simply won't start up and those who's gamepad's are having issues but yes I agree it is to be expected and the minority of problems are hardware, easy to replace when they get back in stock
