#137487 RUMOR - Second New Super Mario Bros. U update wiping saves

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 24 November 2012 - 12:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

How do you download the update? My Wii U apparently hasn't noticed any updates... At all. For any of my games... So I'm confused.

#131567 Recommended External HDD?

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 17 November 2012 - 02:42 PM in Wii U Hardware

So Nintendo released some information on what external HDDs will work best with the Wii U. Sadly, the one I have now will not work. Have any of you purchased any recently? Do you know of any great deals? Because I'm not looking for anything special. Just really, really, cheap...

#117009 Do you really want the deluxe?

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 12 October 2012 - 05:25 PM in Wii U Hardware

I want the deluxe for two reasons. First, it comes in black. Second, I get a discount on digital purchases. Nothing else about it really means much to me.

#117007 My Thoughts on Wii U 3rd Party Support

Hmm... I was hoping for a few intelligent replies...

#116995 My Thoughts on Wii U 3rd Party Support

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 12 October 2012 - 04:40 PM in Wii U Hardware

I have been thinking about Nintendo's track record with 3rd party support. Starting all the way back with the Nintendo 64 (N64) there has been a pretty consistent pattern. 3rd party developers would be very supportive of Nintendo's new console, at first, and then interested would all but die off because sales of those 3rd party titles just weren't enough to be profitable. Now there can be a number of explanations for this, especially the limitations of the N64's hardware, but I think the biggest reason has nothing to do with the hardware. It has nothing to do with disk size, storage space, load times, etc. it has everything to do with us. The fans. Those of us who are supposed to be supporting the 3rd party developers. When they release a multi-platform game and the N64/GCN/Wii version ends up being all but ignored we only have ourselves to blame. We, those who are enthusiastic about Nintendo and do our best to support them, didn't buy the Wii version. Instead we decided that the PS3/XBox360 version was superior and decided not to support the efforts of the 3rd party devs, thus killing their interest in releasing further games on any given Nintendo console.

Now, I'm not pointing the finger of blame at anyone and dismissing the problem as everyone else's. It may sound that way, but I understand the reason we all chose the other console's version. The other consoles can support better graphics, have better online, or [insert your own reason]. I'm just as guilty as anyone else and I am not going to deny it! I've skipped the Wii version of many multi-platformers because I wanted the experience the other consoles offered. So, what is my point then? To be honest, these are just my own thoughts and ramblings. If I did have a point, which I really don't, then maybe it would be the Wii U is now on-par with, or slightly better than, the current generation consoles (yes, Nintendo calls it a next-gen console. I'm aware). This means that when 3rd party devs release those multi-platform titles, you really have no excuse not to at least give the Wii U version much needed consideration.

When considering the launch line-up, it is obvious to everyone that it's mostly 3rd party ports. Ok, so, no need to buy those right? They're ports. They don't matter. Wrong! Consider that perhaps Mass Effect 3 is releasing on Wii U to test the waters. If the sales numbers don't show support then they can say "We tried to get you Nintendo owners interested, but the support wasn't there." and then call it quits. But, they're not releasing the trilogy on the Wii U! How can you ask me to play Mass Effect 3 if I haven't played the previous games? Well, the answer isn't really all that easy to swallow. It's simple and blunt. If you fail to support this, or any other port (Not just Mass Effect), you are giving the 3rd party devs all the reason they need to just forget the Wii U entirely. They put these ports out to test the waters, you voted with your wallets, and if you didn't support the ports, then they don't really have any motivation to to support your desire to have more "hardcore" games on the Wii U.

Anyway, I'm probably just angering a lot of people. But these things have been on my mind and I felt the need to share. All I'm saying is, show your support of these 3rd party devs on the Wii U. They need it.

Thank you.

#115378 Nano Assault Dev Talks a bit about wii u power

Everything said there is great... But what about the CPU? Nothing was said to shoot down the idea that it's slow.

#104500 "Dark Witch" Fantasy Medieval RPG in development for WiiU/PC/MAC

I hope this isn't Wii's Sadness all over again. I really, really, wanted to play that game.

#102569 Possible Wii U Release Date Leak

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 27 August 2012 - 04:23 PM in Wii U Hardware

I didn't see this being discussed anywhere, but it looks like someone may have let the release date slip. It sounds like a pretty good date to me, if true.

#102150 How will Microsoft and Sony Compete with the Wii U?

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 25 August 2012 - 06:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

Microsoft has Smart Glass and Sony has the Vita. I don't know how amazing those products will be, but I'm pretty sure they can offer a very similar experience. They can compete just fine with Nintendo's Wii U.

#100786 WayForward working on multi-platform title

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 20 August 2012 - 04:16 PM in Wii U Games and Software

WayForward seems to be working on an unannounced multi-platform title. The Wii U is included in the list of platforms. I wonder what it could be...

but people who trully trully see the difference between pc and ps3 are few.

I don't know about that. I can spot the differences easily, but I've been playing video games since... um... How long has it been since the NES? In all those years I've seen consoles evolve from simple 8-bit graphics to the 3D eye-candy we enjoy today. Still say the SNES was the best console ever.

#100456 Capcom Hints at Whats in Store For Wii U

They better damn well get some Resident Evil in there.

Agreed. I'm still hopin' for RE6. I know, it's probably not going to happen, but a guy can dream.

#100448 BLACK OPS 2 (PRETTY MUCH) CONFIRMED FOR WII U!

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 18 August 2012 - 10:39 AM in Wii U Games and Software

As someone who has been recently laid off, and now hired on anew, I hope this guy doesn't lose his job over this.

Sadly, I lost my job because I said too much about a project I was working on. I didn't choose to say it to the world, I only told a few co-workers. It was still my bad. Never should have opened my mouth. Anyway, if he does lose his job I wish him the best of luck at finding a new and better place to work.

...I upgraded to a higher pay rate after losing my job, for opening my mouth, so it all worked out for the best. :-)

#100445 I want Zelda U to have motion controls

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 18 August 2012 - 10:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I could be okay with or without motion controls, especially if they are optional.

While I enjoyed Syward Sword, I think there is still a long way to go with that motion sensing technology. I found the Wii Remote Plus to be too sensitive and I don't like how I had to readjust it more often than I care to. The interface needs work (like selecting items), but beyond that I think the controls are fine. I think the option to play the "classic" way would be good too. Gives gamers who don't care for the motion controls the chance to enjoy the game with everyone else.

#100079 GameStop Employee: "There will be no Wii U Midnight Launch(es) at GameSto...

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 16 August 2012 - 11:20 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah. I wasn't expecting any. Didn't ever happen with any previous console, so why even bother asking?

I don't really care either way. I camped out at my local Target store, at around midnight to get my N64. With the GameCube my job prevented me from camping out, so I walked into a Best Buy and picked up an Indigo colored GCN on launch day (Black was sold out). My job still prevented me from camping out for the Wii, but I had one on reserve and walked in to my local GameStop on launch day and bought one.

This year, for the Wii U, I am hoping to camp out at Target again. The N64 was the first Nintendo console I ever bought with my own money, so it would be cool get the Wii U in the same manner. I've already let my boss know that I don't intend on working on whatever day the console launches. He's okay with that.

#99732 can nintendo pull off these graphics next gen

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 14 August 2012 - 02:54 PM in Wii U Hardware

Um... No. The CGI in all CGI films is not rendered live and takes farms of special computers, dedicated to rendering alone, to produce those effects.

I don't see any cosole, not even within the next 10 years, producing Hollywood CGI movie graphics in real-time. Hopefully I'm wrong, but technologically speaking I seriously doubt it's possible.

#99445 Gamestop Info...

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 13 August 2012 - 09:43 AM in Wii U Hardware

I find that I always know more about Nintendo than my local Gamestop employees, which isn't a bad thing. However, I find it interesing that one of those employees thinks the Wii U will be delayed here in America. I don't see that happening. The hype train has been slowly speeding up and you see more and more people getting interested in the console. If Nintendo were going to delay the system then I would think they'd put the brakes on things for a just a little bit. This way people don't get all exctied and then disappointed when a delay is announced.

#99442 Possibility to make screenSHOTS? Video Recording?

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 13 August 2012 - 09:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

It is easy enough to make your own screenshots, by purchasing a video capture card for your computer. Years ago, back when I owned a GameCube, I used to take videos and screen shots all the time and upload them to YouTube. Sadly, when I upgrade to 64-bit Windows, my external capture card was no longer compatible with my machine, but it was cheap anyway. Really cheap. Haven't bothered to replace it yet. I'm thinking of getting a new one for my Wii U. It would be nice to be able to upload gameplay videos to YouTube again.

#99051 Wii U Gamestop Promo!

I will check and see if they have any promotional stuff at my local Gamestop on the 19th, when I pick up New Super Mario Bros. 2.

#99049 Sony Admits the PSVita is struggling with 3rd Party...

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 11 August 2012 - 06:33 PM in General Gaming

I don't really know much about PSVita, but from what I've heard this is Sony's own fault. They made some poor choices, and the hand-held wasn't selling as well as people had hoped. Like I said, I could be mistaken. I'm just going by what I've heard.

#99048 Wii U messaging system better than 360

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 11 August 2012 - 06:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I have to agree with the concept, as long Nintendo doesn't gimp it with censorship. Is that optional for 3rd party titles? If it's console-wide then the entire communication system is screwed up.

#98430 Game Informer Secrets

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 08 August 2012 - 11:37 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Meh. I don't know. I don't think this is going to be Nintendo related. I really want it to be Doom 4. I love the Doom series.

#98422 Wii U Box Case CONFIRMED!

Posted by King_Bowser_Koopa on 08 August 2012 - 11:05 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Lame. I hate that box case design... But I've started to keep the games and cases seperate from each other, so that the cases stay nice and fresh (no scratches or other wear on them). The game discs are kept in a CD wallet. I guess the ugly cases don't really matter. I won't be looking at them much.
