Nintendo on its officiel e3 site has given a picture of the console and the wii u game pad with all the tech specs on it, and theres definitely an ir sensor bar mentionned on the wii u gamepad.

The UPad does NOT have an Infra-red sensor bar by the camera.
This video showcases this conclusively.
See the sensor bar under the TV? Violet lights.
See the black bar by the camera on the UPad? No lights.
IR can be seen by camera's but not by the naked eye.
Of course the upad has an infra red sensor bar by the camera !! How would you use the wiimote with the gamepad without it?!
Not seeing it in this video doesnt mean its not there, maybe its just not turned on !

Isn't that for opening up the remote feature for turning on/off the TV and changing channels?
The ability to play only on the wii u game pad is called "off-TVplay" and yes its only up to dev to include it or not.
A logo will clearly be on the wii u game boxes compatble with this function.
The Tv button on the wii u gamepad is to switch from game mode to tvremote mode
And what about the first rumours we heard a while ago, about the ability to see someone else playing?
Id lve to watch videogames on my wii u like ont stitch tv !
And it be great to play online with a friend, and seeing his game or his face on the wii gamepad!

If you talk about bad products and bad customer service youd better look at microsoft than apple...
I dont know one company who didnt had issues with lcd screen one time or another!...
And about an apple console maybe you dont remeber the "pippin"!!

All i can say is BGassassin is quite known on Neogaf as a reliable source.
And it would explain the misunderstanding among the devs and sources, maybe the wii u has a weak cpu(compared to ps360) with a quite Good gpu.
If dev have to rebuild the core of the game because of the wii u cpu architechture, it would explain a lot.
But the first rumors about cafe were talking about an easy portability from xbox , what did happen?
Anyway ill buy wii u day one!
And ps4 day one! And xbox loop day one! ^^
And i dont think develloppers would say bad commentary about wii u hardware anyway... Do you really criticize your own boss in an interview?

Errr...
The sync button is on the rear of that E3 '11 controller... so that square button on the front of the leaked version maybe isn't the sync, like some have suggested?
Edit: Some have also guessed its for switching screens, of course.
Yep i guess your're right...
Someone wanna watch the tv...push the button and the game goes only on the upad's screen

About the square flat zone, people are talking about NFC area, or touchpad!
I think it could be a kind of sensor, why do you need an id stupid NFC profile Card when you can just use your finger......^^

I just need wii u zelda demo for 3d, but i really want nintendo to upgrade their 2d graphc style, the mario mii we have seen is a shame when you can have games like rayman legends graphically.
Anyway, ill go with nintendo whatever they decide, but i want them to use it perfectly, but we know the console has been modified a lot since last year, and i' sure nintendo took the time needed to really fit their expectations.

If it can have really good graphic, i mea, photo realisti ones, it would be amazing! Look around you with the uPad, touch and feel corals and fishes with the haptic screen ( if there is haptic tech of course)...
You can take pictures, share shem online and you can also fish with wii moion plus wiimotes if you dont wanna get wet
