#185128 Next Level Games Has A "Top Secret" Title In Development

Posted by Mensrea on 21 March 2013 - 05:08 PM in Wii U Games and Software

My thoughts exactly, sourcing off Luigi's Mansion seems like a big sign of trust from Nintendo.

I hope its a Wii U game, it opens up the possibility of more old Nintendo IP's reboots/sequels.

Instead of Retro's slight chance of working on Eternal Darkness, maybe Next Level are doing it :).

I don't think Nintendo cares about Eternal Darkness sadly. :(

We can dream though.

I personally could see them doing Starfox.

#185124 Mighty Switch Force! 2 Coming This Spring

I really liked the original. I hope they release a Wii U version as well. I'd say the original was the best 2D plat on the system.

#185123 how was the wiiu suppost to attract core gamers again ?

Posted by Mensrea on 21 March 2013 - 04:57 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think that was their plan at all. Their plan seemed to be to make a console that would piggyback off the Wii's huge success by adding a new control feature (touch) that would appeal to non gamers. Then they would back that up with their stable of IP's that appeal to the Nintendo fanbase.

The problem is, the non gamers that ate up the Wii, don't really care about the Wii U. So Nintendo is in a pickle right now.

#185119 Next Level Games Has A "Top Secret" Title In Development

Would Mario Strikers or Punch Out warrant the notion of being "top-secret" ?

No, I don't think it's either of those.

Next Level games has a lot of talent, and they have progressively gotten more and more talented. They started off with lowly mario sports games. Then they got punch out and delivered a knock out (see what I did there?) and Luigi's mansion is getting unprecedented praise. I think whatever they are working on is something bigger.

#185116 Mod's don't seem to be doing anything

So is this a bad time to become active on the forums?

Well, they did an excellent job with LM judging on the reviews. So I think Nintendo is willing to trust them with a bigger IP now.

They have slowly been getting bigger and bigger IP's.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably starfox.

#149095 And this is why I returned the Wii U...

Posted by Mensrea on 18 December 2012 - 12:14 AM in Wii U Hardware

One of your points that I am very concerned about as well is the looking down at the gamepad. I too have noticed that looking at the gamepad in cod for the map is essentially useless. It is difficult to get any benefit from it at all. It's funny though, because the only game that uses the gamepad well is ZombiU, and it works for the very reason that it's hard to look at the gamepad and back up at the screen without becoming disoriented. I hope that future titles use it in ways that work well.

#148681 Where do you put your sensor bar?

I put it behind me. It's the only way I've found to invert controls.

#148217 I own a 360 ps3 and a wii. Do i really need a wii u?

Posted by Mensrea on 15 December 2012 - 12:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

Not yet, it's not getting most of the multiplats, and the exclusives are slim right now. Zombi U and NSMBU are both great games, but neither of them justify a purchase of the system yet. Wait until Pikmin 3/ Wonderful 101. By then it will have caught it's footing a little better.

#147973 Zombie U Two, What would you add/change to the Game ?

Posted by Mensrea on 14 December 2012 - 06:52 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think the next one would benefit from a metroid like design. Mostly open, but you still need to get certain things to progress, the game just doesn't force you on them. It would've been pretty cool if you had no idea where you needed to go. I mean, isn't that what survival is all about?

#147854 Will the Wii U take as much time to get going as the 3DS?

Posted by Mensrea on 13 December 2012 - 09:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The Wii U is upon us, and I believe that it is a console brimming with potential. The question on everyone's mind of course, is "when are we going to start seeing the big games". We have Pikmin 3 on the horizon, as well as P-100 and Bayonetta 2, all good games in their own right, but beyond that we know very little. So my question is, when are we going to start seeing Nintendo pull out the big guns? If we look at the 3DS, the situation becomes a bit scary.

The 3DS is almost on it's 3rd year, and the only big first party support we have seen is Mario, and man they have really pounded Mario into the ground. SM3DL, NSMB2, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Paper Mario, need I go on? Those games are all fine, but we really haven't seen any of Nintendo's big games. Sure there was OOT3D, and Starfox 64, but those were both remakes. So far we have seen Mario, and Kid Icarus. Frankly, I don't want to play Mario for 3 years on my Wii U. Right now the 3DS is close to it's 3rd year, and we still have zero info on: Kirby, Starfox, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, etc. Kind of a grim library in my opinion. Right now mario is the only reason to buy a 3DS, and I'm burnt out on Mario after the whoring of him nintendo has done recently.

So my question is, how long until the Wii U's library really starts heating up? Are we going to see a 3DS situation with very little variety/third party support? Or are we going to get the diverse library that is usually part of Nintendo systems? Even the Wii two years in had a: 3D mario game, Metroid game, and Zelda game.

#147755 Zombie U Two, What would you add/change to the Game ?

Posted by Mensrea on 13 December 2012 - 04:48 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I disagree about the graphics. Scarier, yes. Always!

ZombiU looks worse then most early xbox games. It's pretty ugly. They can push the hardware much farther. I don't blame them because it's a launch game and they are a small team, but I look forward to the future.

A lot of what people are suggesting are things which wouldnt suit this game IMO. If you want chainsaws, better weapons etc. you should just play something like Resident Evil although golf clubs and knives would be good.

And i dont want online multiplayer, the only changes to the current multiplayer i would like to see are having more than just 2 players playing at once. Why do people expect games to have online multiplayer these days?

An improvement in graphics would be nice, although im not that bothered about it really.

Basically, i want it to continue as a survival horror game and i dont want it to become an action game. Keeping it set in the UK will allow there to be a good reason for less weapons and ammo which IMO makes the game less action packed and more Survival Horror. I really love this game and dont want them to change a lot of it, i do agree that a more interesting story and more insight into your survivors personality would add something to the game though.

What do you feel are dumb uses of the gamepad?

A few of them just seem forced, the tapping on doors to remove barricades, using turrets, etc. I think for the most part it uses the gamepad quite well, and is a blessing amidst a sea of games that don't use it at all. I'm so happy someone decided to innovate right out the gate, but I do think that a few of the uses are forced.

#147406 Wii U is in a precarious position

Posted by Mensrea on 12 December 2012 - 09:56 PM in Wii U Hardware

Except for the lack of analog triggers, which unfortunately gimps racing games. I'm not even sure how well GTA would work without analog acceleration, its something you do not realise how much you utilise until someone takes it away.

Either way though, I suspect the Wii U will be fine, from Nintendos point of view at least. The question is if it will be as popular or have as much third party support as Sony or Microsoft. That is a big question.

Everyone is making a big fuss over triggers, It doesn't really matter. Analog sticks can be used for acceleration. The triggers aren't going to affect the system really that much at all.

#147295 Zombie U Two, What would you add/change to the Game ?

Posted by Mensrea on 12 December 2012 - 07:04 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Graphics need to be improved drastically, it's not a pretty game by any means. Cut out dumb uses for the gamepad, and focus on the ones that work well. Make me care about each survivor so that each one I lose stings a little bit. More interesting story, scarier if possible. Add more uses for gamepad. It's a really good base for a franchise though. I love it.

#147280 Wii U is in a precarious position

Posted by Mensrea on 12 December 2012 - 06:55 PM in Wii U Hardware

They will be fine, don't expect Wii numbers sales wise, but I think quality is going to be much better from first and third parties. The gamepad works as a traditional controller which I think is a big reason the Wii lacked quality support.

#100432 I want Zelda U to have motion controls

Posted by Mensrea on 18 August 2012 - 08:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

It was released towards the end of the wii life span, and everyone's wii was in their closet in a box, so no one even played it any more. Although it was the best Zelda game ever no doubt.Motion controls is the reason skyward sword IS the best Zelda game, and I agree TP Motion controls sucked, but they completely nailed it with skyward sword, it was so simple and easy to get a hang of. OoT was outright amazing for its time and still today, but SS is IMO 20X better

Oh I agree that the motion controls for skyward were amazing, but skyward was not the best zelda game. No exploration kills it for me. When I think about it, skyward sword was a great experiment, but I don't think we need more than one motion controlled zelda.

They are pretty cool. I'm kind of jealous that you got to see them live.

Great song, he played that for his encore.

#100394 I want Zelda U to have motion controls

Posted by Mensrea on 17 August 2012 - 10:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Well skyward sword was one of the poorest selling zelda games, barely beating out majora's mask sales wise. Motion controls are too polarizing, what they need to do is rework combat for a traditional setup. I like skyward sword alot, but I want to use the gamepad.

Anyone listen to them? I've loved them for years, and last night I saw them for the first time. Great time.

#99926 Black Ops: Declassified Trailer for the PS VITA

Posted by Mensrea on 15 August 2012 - 12:24 PM in General Gaming

It looks like a ps2 game. Also it's made by the same people as burning skies? WTF. I'm not a cod fan, in fact i've never owned one, but this would've really helped the vita, a lot. Instead it will suck.
