#140424 Wii U clock speeds are found by marcan

Oh. I was confused for a second.

It's not deniable that the launch titles of the PS4 and 720 are going to look better than Wii U exclusive titles, the 720 and PS4 will be using 2012 hardware. Quality wise though it's mostly going to be ports of Wii U games, 360 games, and PS3 games. God of War 4 and Uncharted 4 won't be launch titles, quit in living lalala land.

It's not a far stretch considering Uncharted Golden Abyss was a launch title for the PS Vita and it's arguably one of the best looking games for the handheld so far and it's not even using it's full resolution. If the new God of War game is coming out next year for the PS3 it's very likely that it will come out for the PS4 which I'm sure they will take the time to repolish the graphics.

Wait, what?

Launch PS3 and 360 games look awful, they didn't look as good as they do now.

Launch PS3 and Xbox 360 games looked better then PS2 and xbox games. We're not talking about that we're talking about Launch PS4 and Xbox720 titles that will look better then the Wii U's exclusive launch titles. I'm willing to bet Sony will have God of War 4 and Uncharted 4 as launch titles.

We don't know the Wii U's full potential, even the hacker himself said so. You're basing the power of the Wii U off of a couple bad ports. You do realize that developers do not use the full potential of a console at launch, right?

Right that's why the competitors launch exclusives will look better then the Wii U's.

How do you know they lied...? Because the ports of the games from other consoles aren't 3X better? If Nintendo would have said "the clock frequencies of the CPU and GPU will be 3X as high as current consoles", that might have been a lie, judging from this. But they didn't. And come on, of course it will compete with Sony's and Microsoft's next consoles, even the Wii managed to compete with the 360 and the PS3, even though the difference in specs were probably much bigger than what will be the case between WiiU and the next Microsoft & Sony consoles.

That's why their 3rd party support sucked. It's funny how history repeats itself. The Wii's dead now and Sony and Microsofts consoles still thrive.

You seem to not have a grasp on what defines a next gen console.

Next gen is the next generation of hardware a company releases.

That's not what I meant. It's on par with the current consoles and won't be able to compete with the new consoles Sony and Microsoft are going to release. They said it was 3X more powerful then the current consoles they lied.

That was before because they thought that they don't have the time enough to do the same as the ps360 versions.

"It’s not like some radically diminished version" He's not just talking about the Wii in comparison but he also seems to be implying subliminally that it's not a spot on port.

These CPU specs were taken whent the system was at IDLE in a menu.
Most PCs now a days will cut the CPU power down to save energy. As soon as you fire up a game or do something heavy on the PC the CPU will function at peak capactiy. I know this because my friend said his PC was advertised at having a 3.0 GHz processor. While at the Windows desktop it only showed 1.5 Ghz. As soon as we launched a game, i went to the desktop and checked again and it was at 3.0 GHz just as the box said it should be. I changed his power settings and bam it was always listed as 3.0GHz.

Ill wait untill Nintendo gives us the real story.

You have a point but this console isn't next gen.

How is it BS? They probably didn't have enough time, they probably received the kits late for the Wii U version, we can't comment on something we don't know. It could of been because of laziness as well.

That's a better video.

Exactly it was because of laziness that's why I call BS on the excuse they used of them not having enough time. What do you have to say about the stability of the game? It's been freezing on me and plenty of others. I'm not blaming Ubisoft for that though that's Nintendo's fault for making s cheap rehash and having the nerve to call it the successor to the previous console. They claim they're taking a loss ha the only one taking a loss is us buying overpriced outdated tech.

Huh?

AC3 on the Wii U's lightning is fine you can't really notice the particle effects.

The example is pixelated.

"According to Assassin’s Creed 3 game designer Steven Masters, the Wii U version will be missing some technical features that are available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Because the developer didn’t have enough time to properly port Assassin’s Creed 3 Wii U to Nintendo’s new console, the game won’t include some of the lighting and particle effects present in other versions."

Development time excuses aside. I call BS because they took something out that was already in the Xbox and PS3 versions of the game to begin with it doesn't take that long to encode those minor effects. They could have had it done in a day at best.

nah, do you think nintendo doest know what a bottleneck is? a company that has been building consoles for 29 years? i really think that they know something that we dont, or we dont know about theyr bussiness strategy so, start to claim nintendo's death its pointless seriously, i believe they know what they are doing

you need to calm down, take a breath and enjoy the console =O, if then you have the need to buy the next xbox or ps go on :)

PD: i remember an article from shinen the dev from nano-assault saying something about that the wii u avoid the typical bottlenecks, i dont know how but they said it

How do you expect for me to relax when we have Iwata apologizing on behalf of Nintendo's obvious F up? I don't take to kindly into being advertised something that's 3X more powerful then the competitors consoles when it's clearly not. I paid 300 plus tax and 60 plus tax only to wait til the console gets patched for the game to function properly? You call this acceptable?

So?
It's more modern, thus ac3 would run on it just as easily as the 360.
Their spending habits weren't what I quoted you about.

That's only after the fact that the game had to suffer compromises such as graphical cut backs lighting and particle effects.

Nintendo has Mario.
Nintendo win's!
Plus, I am not a fanboy, I just think that each consoles has its positives and negatives against and I think that one of Nintendo's positives is their exclusives!

Cop out much? I agree that each console has it's gems but saying Mario is better then what Sony has to offer is flat out fanboyish.

but slower clock speed does not mean current gen lol, actually the clock speeds are worse thanc urrent gen, but the gpu is more modern it has features and its capable to do some things that 360/ps3 cannot, thats obvious too, while at the same time other hardware pìeces will help to mitigate the cpu speed

The inevitable Bottleneck begs to differ.

Typical fanboy response. Show me sale figures and game of the year rewards and we'll settle this short lived debate.

Newer boxes have shinier functions to use.
It's easily on par with last gen.

Clearly they spent most of their money on creating the gamepad. When their main focus should have been the console. Motion controls was innovative for its time, but touch screen functions. Apple had that covered years ago so much for innovation o_____O Whatever happend to the head piece that would allow us to control the games with our mind?

Nintendo has The Legend Of Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Super Mario, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin and more......
Sony only has God Of War, Rachet and Clank and Infamous and Uncharted 2( I think that Uncharted 3 is wayyyyyyyyy over rated).

I think you're forgetting a couple others. Heavy Rain, The Last of us, Demon Souls, Killzone, Resistance, Metal Gear Solid 4, InFamous 2, Little Big Planet 1. 2. Vita, Wipeout HD, White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian, Tearaway, Motorstorm, Modnation Racers, Journey, Gran Turismo 5 and God of War Ascension just to name a few. I wasn't saying Nintendo didn't have great exclusives. I was saying Microsoft didn't. Well beside the Fable series and the Witcher 2.

I doubt it. The wii was the best thing that ever happened to nintendo, and both the wii u and 3ds are starting to look like a slightly lesser success of the wii and ds... And with vita putting up far less of a fight than psp...

Wow though if he gets through starbuck and it still reads back like this.

Just wow.

This is really bad news for 3rd party support. I'm curious as to how UBI got AC3 to run properly. The PS Vita failed due to lack of promotional support and lack of faith developers have for it. Due to what happened in the past with the PSP. However in terms of hardware it's vastly superior then the Wii and 3DS handheld but I'm sure you already knew that.

The end of of nintendo will be when Xbox will have better exclusives(that will not happen), then we will be screwed.

Sony clearly has the better exclusives. What does Microsoft have going for it? Cheap rehashes of Halo and Gears of War.

Marcan is back and he has successfully hacked the Wii U!! Although, he is still working on getting to the systems core and full power potential, he has released some minor info...Look for a Wii U Homebrew channel in about 6 months, but for now, check out the CPU and GPU clock speeds he has released. Some forum members on the link provided are clowning these numbers, but you have to remember, Marcan clocked these figures while NOT playing a game, so the processor speeds can be a lot faster during gameplay. Its safe to say that the Wii U's OS doesnt need to run at high speeds for CPU and GPU.

marcan is a well known Wii hacker, in case you haven't heard of him.

Quote:
Wii U codenames worth knowing: system Cafe, CPU Espresso, GPU/SoC/etc. Latte, ARM secure processor Starbuck (we made that one up).

1.243125GHz, exactly. 3 PowerPC 750 type cores (similar to Wii's Broadway, but more cache).

GPU core at 549.999755MHz.

we're calling the WiiU security processor the Starbuck (vs. Starlet on Wii). And it seems to be about equally vulnerable, too

sorry, I'd rather not talk about how I got that yet. It doesn't involve leaks, it involves Wii U hacks ;)

Is just a possible reason they might have.
You'd have to contact them directly. I assume that's why they gave you the massive code for if you want to find out why.
For our sakes I think you should. I'd like to know why.

Yeah, you're right. I should contact them about it, but when I click on the admin's name there's no way to contact them. You'd think they'd have the decency to provide an email address for customer support, or at least provide me with a legitimate reason as to why they removed it. I think it's stupid that other people can get away with drawing guns pointed at someones face, and taking a piss on a fence. Yet, they don't remove their drawings??

"I know, but Goku is still his character.
And the OP signed it as his own."

That's because that's my artwork. I didn't trace it, and claim it was my own. It's a revision. If I wanted to I could paint his fur green, and call him Voku. Besides, the creator never gave him the built I gave him or added the little details that I did. This is Toriyama's drawing. Granted he didn't draw it on a tablet like I did. Had it been with an actual pencil and paper his artwork would be out classed by mine.

What are you trying to prove?
Other than a couple of sketches and character designs, Toriyama had nothing to do with GT. Toei did all of the work and Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru drew SSJ4 Goku. He provided sketches of what he envisioned GT as, it wasn't the final product.

"Toriyama had nothing to do with SSJ4 or GT, I doubt he'd care."

To say this minus SSJ4 is not true. That was my point, and he actually did like the character design of SSJ4. So much so that he drew a picture of the form, and signed it for Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru to show his appreciation of the series. When the company owns a franchise, and they decide to make a sequel with the blessing of the original creator like it or not we must accept it.

Toriyama had nothing to do with SSJ4 or GT, I doubt he'd care.

Just as he came up with the "Z" title, Toriyama came up with the name "GT" as well. In his Dragon Box GT intro, he says that "in car lingo, GT means 'Gran Turismo': a fast, high-powered car, in other words. But in this case, I had GT mean 'Grand Touring', a great journey, since the scenario was that they'd be running around the universe." The GT Perfect File Vol. 1 mentions that the name could also mean "Galaxy Touring", though this doesn't seem to have been Toriyama's intention.

Besides coming up with the title, Toriyama also drew a rough design for the GT logo, which is shown on page 82 of the GT Perfect File Vol. 2 and was reprinted in the Dragon Book included with the Dragon Box GT. His design was essentially the same as what the logo ultimately ended up looking like.

Toriyama designed the "several years later" appearance of the main DragonBall GT cast, including the infamous moustache-blighted Vegeta, which were featured in the GT Perfect File Vol. 1 on page 89:

GT Main Character Designs

In addition to these black and white designs, Toriyama also made several color pictures of Goku, Pan, and Trunks. The first is simply a colored version of the above pictures of them. There's also a stand-alone picture of Goku using alternate colors than what he ended up having in DragonBall GT: orange shirt and blue pants, instead of blue shirt and orange pants.

Toriyama's design for Giru was originally printed in Weekly Jump No. 52, 1995. It's been reprinted in Daizenshuu 7 and the GT Perfect Files, though the Perfect Files reprint lacks Toriyama's notes. Apparently Giru was not named at this point, and was simply labeled as the "Meddling Robot".

Giru Design

Toriyama designed the spaceship which Goku and co. use to hunt for the dragonballs throughout the universe. Like his Giru design, Toriyama's spaceship drawings were printed in Weekly Jump No. 52, 1995, and later reprinted in Daizenshuu 7 and the GT Perfect File Vol. 1. They include fairly detailed notes, which unfortunately are left out of the Perfect Files reprint.

Spaceship Design

Toriyama drew three (that we know about) color pictures of Goku, Pan, and Trunks adventuring on various alien planets. The first two were, as you might guess by now, printed in Weekly Jump No. 52, 1995, and were later included in Daizenshuu 7 and the GT Perfect Files. The first shows the gang on Planet Mommath, hiding behind a giant glass bottle as giants curiously check out their ship. Planet Mommath and the giants appear in DragonBall GT episode 6. The next picture shows them on the desert planet Kahra (possibly a pun on kara, meaning "empty"). This picture strongly resembles Planet Ruhdeze, seen in DragonBall GT episode 16. Finally, Toriyama made a third GT picture for a calendar included in Weekly Jump No. 3/4, 1996. It shows Goku and co. beating up a bunch of aliens on a mysterious planet, none of which were used in DragonBall GT.
