#245832 Street Fighter 2/Pro controller issue

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 13 September 2013 - 12:08 PM in Wii U Hardware

With the Wii U gamepad and the pro controller on it wouldn't let me use them as separate multiplayer controls on the Street Fighter 2 VC game. This is because the Pro controller automatically takes the position of P1 meaning both controllers only control player 1.

I've worked out that if I set up a wiimote as P1 and the Pro Controller as P2 it will.

This seems like a bodge job rather than how it should work. Is this the only solution?

#235519 Pikmin 3, Does it do anything superior to ps360?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 28 July 2013 - 07:22 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Pikmin 3 wasn't built from the ground up on the Wii U. It is essentially a pretty Wii game.

Really, that's interesting.

It suggests that there is still plenty more power to be used.

As I said in my first message, I'm not judging the game by graphics, I just wanted to talk purely about graphics.

I agree the floor textures are sometimes disappointing. I think they are only noticeable because the rest looks so great.

It's been about 9 months since the launch and Pikmen 3 was specifically designed for the system and nothing else, so it's an interesting indicator of what the Wii U is capable of.

I've been playing Pikmin 3 and it's graphically beautiful that got me thinking.

Ignoring PC games, what will be considered the first game to have 'next gen' graphics?

Has the Wii U released anything graphically superior to the 360/PS3.

I think this answer is probably Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

P.S I know games aren't about graphics, blah blah blah, it's more of a technical question.

#228512 Any news on Tvii in the uk?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 03 July 2013 - 10:01 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'm unimpressed by the lack of BBC iplayer.

So you believe there is no games then you list them off???

I didn't say I believe there are no games, just that there is a notion that there aren't any games for the Wii U

I'm very pleased with the amount of big titles announced. Once the advertising is rolled out the Wii U could be right back in the game.

I'm feeling pretty relieved having watched the launches of the PS4 and Xboxone as despite all the fear's they don't appear to be massive power leap forwards. I'm guessing that E3 will be all about Game announcement as we've pretty much covered the hardware, with the expect of what the PS4 box looks like (a glossy brick?).

I'm hoping Nintendo layout 12 months of conformed dates of triple A titles to dispel any notions that the Wii U has no games. Put all the cards on the table to make sure people know that all their favourites will be coming and when they can expect them, SSB, Zelda, Mario 3D, Wii U fit, Mario Kart, Zelda WWHD, Sonic Lost Word, Yarn Yoshi, Bayonetta 2, + all the already confirmed titles like G&W, Pikmin 3 and W101 and then the unveiling of untitled Retro Studios Project.

Basically title after title until we can take no more. oh and then a price cut.

#202945 Getting a bit fed up with UK prices Asda £149.99 Tesco £139.99

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 02 May 2013 - 10:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

First it's too expensive and now it's too cheep.....

This seems to be a UK thing and probably reflects our collapsing economy after 'austerity measures'. Basically the UK economy has flat lined for a few years and a Next Gen Console is low down on our essentials. Supermarkets are probably clearing stock as they only deal in big selling videogames they can sell to Mums and HMV were insolvent when they slashed their prices.

Should the Wii U start selling serious amounts soon then I'm sure they'll be restocked.

#202445 WHY DID YOU BUY THE WII U

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 01 May 2013 - 10:47 AM in Wii U Hardware

The Off-screen play was a big factor. I had a Wii but wanted to trade it in while it was still worth something and wanted to experience owning a console from the day of release. I've not regretted it all. Being able to play VC games off screen has been great.

The slow pace off new games hasn't bothered me as I had a few Wii games left to complete as well enjoying some of the exclusive and ported titles. I don't own any other consoles so ported titles having already been out didn't effect me, just a chance to check out what the fuss was all about.

It reminds me of gaming on the Megadrive as a kid when I unable to afford new games, it's been nice to really get into a game rather than constantly half completing titles.

#201558 Watchdogs release date confirmed.

Simultaneous release, Wii U specific features, nuff said.

#200333 Do you regret getting the Wii U?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 26 April 2013 - 09:37 AM in Wii U Hardware

Bought it on launch day, no regrets.

Love the new pad. Enjoying the games, especially the discounted classic titles.

Ignore the Naysayers.

#198782 New Wii U Ads

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 23 April 2013 - 09:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

We don't even have any ads in the UK, Nintendo's Wii U marketing is pathetic.

Official Nintendo Magazine Uk has an Ad on it's back page for the Wii U.....as if the entire magazine isn't an advert for the Wii U.

Whose got the money? the parents. Who are those ad's aimed, the parents.

Nintendo will pick up hardcore fans with software not ad's. When they have the right software they'll advertise it.

For the time being treating it as an upgrade when you have such a high install base seems like a sensible approach.

#198111 New Wii U Ads

(Facepalm)...Can you please be like you were before the Wii came out? Here is how it's done...

Real commercial too. I remember seeing it.

I'm not sure the Gamecube sold enough to use their adverts as a template.

I hope nobody has posted this already but here are some new ads for the Wii u

I sense this is going to irritate people but they are probably the right ads for the right audience.

Naff, yes but so were the Wii ad's.

#194892 NFC, Travel cards

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 15 April 2013 - 09:43 AM in Wii U Hardware

It's always a bit chicken and egg with these things. Will the console be popular enough for someone to develop the idea for it or will some develop the idea for it making the console more popular.

I'm very much in favour of Nintendo working with app developers to expand the pad's functionality. I would love to see a twitter app with integrates with TVii (when it comes to Europe!).

Nintendo need to avoid that dust gathering issue the Wii had that when people were only dusting it off each Christmas for some party games. Netflix is great for that.

#194483 NFC, Travel cards

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 14 April 2013 - 10:10 AM in Wii U Hardware

Am I the only one who isn't overhyping NFC?

I'm not that bothered by it but I was on the Underground and the idea popped into my head.

#194027 NFC, Travel cards

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 13 April 2013 - 07:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

Lots of Transports System use NFC technology instead of tickets. This includes London Transport and is rolling out across the UK rail system as well many other major cities and transport networks.

It'd be kinda of cool if you could use the NFC in the Wii U gamepad to check your balance and top up your card.

#192660 An interesting read from Nintendolife

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 10 April 2013 - 12:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

$/£/€50 cut before Christmas (in two stages) to bring it more into line with current gen pricing whilst being the budget next gen choice.

please.

#188905 Retro Controllers?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 01 April 2013 - 09:52 AM in Wii U Hardware

N64, That's the one controller I can't see them doing!

#188893 Retro Controllers?

Definitely would a like a Gamecube controller.

#188802 Retro Controllers?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 01 April 2013 - 04:38 AM in Wii U Hardware

The new style Virtual Console will arrive soon enough and I was thinking it'd be nice to see the a series of (wireless) recreations of old games controller. I'd like to be able to buy a NES or Dreamcast replica pad bundled with some eshop credit to play the game as the developer intended.

It could make the Wii U the goto machine for Retro gamers and will help flesh out the Console currently thin games library.

#188800 Nintendo: Games will save the Wii U, not a price cut

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 01 April 2013 - 04:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

I wouldn't underestimate the value of a price cut. Even if the games start coming the price could still hold back consumers will to wait out to see what sony/xbox have coming.

The right title combined with a more competitive price point is they key.

#188110 Future Miiverse Improvements Detailed

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 30 March 2013 - 04:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Still waiting for TVii & BBC iPlayer in the UK but I'm liking the gradual tweaking of the System. Better than set up a large faulty system that is never corrected.

#188107 Wii U won't be getting Unreal Engine 4

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 30 March 2013 - 04:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

It seems like every piece of bad news is treated like it alone will bring down Nintendo. The 360 survived the ring of death, how much worse can it get than a massive fail rate.

It seem to me that these constant panic are based of a few misconceptions.

a) The next gen console race has begun.

B) Nintendo will be competing on the same basis

c) Nintendo will collapse if Wii U doesn't sell massive amount in the first twelve months.

The reality is that Microsoft haven't even announced their console and the PS4 isn't due till Xmas and even after that it'll take time for them develop next gen games. Nintendo have a huge headstart to settle in, build an installed base, lower manufacturing costs, develop the OS, build a software library and of course learn who to best utilise the hardware.

That said it won't be competing in exactly the same way just like with the Wii it'll find it's own niche. In twelve month time if it still isn't selling well, well they still have the successful 3DS and plenty of Yen in the bank to bail them out!
