No it's not a matter of disagreement. You are just flat wrong and you don't get it and likely won't.

Charging money for Mii costumes......

I agree with him tho and for the most part Nintendo has handeled DLC how you are supposed to. PC games in the 90's did Expansion packs and expanded the games..sometimes was like getting a full new game. MK8 DLC is very much like that.

Most developers treat DLC like this.

Then you like to be cheated with dirty practices and don't know what you want and have no right to complain about 6 dollar characters. You choose to be selectively self entitled. Can't help you. Goodbye. But you are flat wrong.

The whole 'locked content on the disc' thing isn't really a big deal if you ask me,

Only one being emotional is you right now man so chill out and now you are trying to change the subject. Already explained it nothing more to be said and no I don't spend much time here. Gone most the day. Just post in a bunches then head off. I'm chillin man. You pick wierd battles like Splatoon voice chat and compared it to other team based shooters. You say on disc DLC is A ok. You get all upset over something some company did that is no big deal. Now you are heading off topic. Don't like it don't respond. You are free to be wrong as many times as you want. Not my fault yo. Don't take this personally but with a heart ready to blow up at any moment in my face I honestly don't have the time to care about you to do anything to you.

So I'm out. I don't hate you or like you I have no feelings towards someone I don't know and would have to care to do anything to someone. I'm just telling you how it is and you can't accept it. Fine by me. Carry on. Life moves on.

I'm seeing some "DLC sucks but it's ok when Nintendo does it." Let's not kid ourselves into thinking that Nintendo has some unique DLC practices when theirs is more like the last-gen option in the image posted by Ryudo.

How is MK8 DLC like '90s DLC when they have multiple DLC packs at $7.99? As I mentioned above, it's much closer to the last-gen option here. Not to mention SSB is charging $6.5 AUD for a single character...

For 12 bucks you get entirely new tracks and get Half a game. For 12 dollars you get almost 50% more game for a 60 dollar game. So that is cheap.  It's not like a new mission in parts of a game that already exist like say Metal Gear Rising for example. They gave new new missions but in areas of the game that existed on the original game, tho was free but there are games charge 10 bucks for that and it lasted 20 minutes. Mario Kart 8 did not give you a new objective to race on the same tracks. They created almost an entirely new game for an existing one. Take DIablo II for example. It added 4 new acts. New enemies some new assets and made some tweaks to make the game better and MK8 is the same thing.

Mario Kart 8 retroactively added changes like 200cc,online stability, several new characters, cars, tracks and such. Last gen often just took assets already there and gave you a new mode that should have been in the game in the first place. If you are saying all that should have been in Mario Kart 8 in the first place then some people feel entitled when they should not.

A good deal of last gen DLC is a new quest or mission in areas you been before and could have easily been in the game day 1 on disc.

lets be honest here, mario 1 was a very small fraction of the game that new games are in terms of content and manhours/resources. Yes, there are nasty dlc practices, but some devs release a full game, and continue working on the game releasing new things as dlc. That I dont mind, in fact I really enjoy it. I love finishing with a game and feeling like it's complete, then having somehting added on for a few bucks.

Stop pretending dlc is the devil.

Yes Nintendo sincerly apologizes that NES in 1985 did not have 25GB discs and 40 hours of content. Also this is not saying DLC is evil it's the DLC practices most developes do with it.

DLC is great in idea but many developers treated it badly, some do it well like Dragon Age Origins Awakening. Look at Capcom. They locked DLC on the disc. The game you bought the DLC wa son the physical copy but you had to pay extra to get that content on the disc you already paid for. That was not the exception either. It happened a lot but Capcom did it the worst. Madden 2006 charged you for extra uniforms for teams, something that was always a given in the game to begin with. Thankfully since they dropped that but others do the same. 5-6 bucks for a chracter makes sense tho. A single character is a lot of work and that's just general how fighting games have worked since Street Fighter II. If you don't get that then you don't get how the fighting game scene works. If Mewtwo was on the disc at launch but paid to unlock now then yeah be total BS.

DLC/Expansion packs is meant to be getting more out of the game and expanding on it and that is a great thing. Problem is many times and become the rule not the exception that it's not expanding the game but paying for something that is kinda there already and even getting worse where look at Driveclub. That was a hot mess and took months before it was playable. Same with ACU or Halo MC on XBO ship it now patch it later. Some of these things are day 1 DLC for things that should have been fixed before shipping. DLC is a wonderful thing but often treated badly.

The game is pretty much getting slammed across the board. Looks like one to miss even when it goes down in price which will probably happen soon.

Japanese players loved it and in the video he was having a blast. I am not saying this game will be good but I am saying I don't trust western reviewer bias. They treated Sengoku Basara badly and Nier badly, I mean heck they are not nice to Kirby on Wii U or Yoshi. Not to mention not many of them even touched multiplayer.

But they built a engine ground up for it to take advantage of it's strengths.... you can't expect everyone to have the time to do that.

But they can port it and still take advantage. Deus Ex Gamepad,Need For Speed PC visuals for Wii U as a couple examples.

Wii U and 3DS Lifetime Sales Now 12.6 and 57.94 Millions; Nintendo Releases Financials

Nintendo just released its financial results for the first nine months of fiscal year 2015, ending on December 31st, 2015. Income numbers were all in the black, with a slight decrease year-on-year in net sales. On the other hand, there was a substantial increase in operating income

More interestingly, we get an update on hardware and software shipments for Wii U and 3DS.

Nintendo3.jpg

This means that in the three months between October and December, including the Holiday season, the company shipped 1.87 million Wii U units, and 3.6 million 3DS units worldwide.

The company from Kyoto also provided a statement via press release, with an in-depth analysis of the results. Unsurprisingly, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon take front and center stage on the Wii U scenario, with 3.34 million units and 4.06 million units shipped respectively.

We also get the profit forecast for the full fiscal year. Again, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon are a focus of Nintendo’s short-term plans for their home console. The company did not change its previous forecast of 50 billion yen operating income by the end of the fiscal year, meaning that they expect to earn about 7.5 billion yen in the current quarter, ending on March 31st.

“During the nine month period ended December 31, 2015, for Nintendo 3DS, “New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL,” both of which launched during the previous period as the newest members of the Nintendo 3DS family, made up the bulk of the Nintendo 3DS hardware sales. As for the Nintendo 3DS software, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer became a hit by selling 2.93 million units globally, while in  overseas markets, popular titles such as Pokémon Omega Ruby/Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS which were released during the previous fiscal year showed steady sales. In the Japanese market, titles such as Rhythm Tengoku (Japanese title) and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright/Conquest gained popularity.  In addition, some third-party titles sold over a million units as well. As a result, the global sales of the Nintendo 3DS hardware and software were 5.88 million and 38.87 million units respectively.

With respect to Wii U, Splatoon sold 4.06 million units and Super Mario Maker sold 3.34 million units, making both titles blockbusters that vitalized the Wii U platform. In addition, Yoshi’s Woolly World, which was released during this period, and evergreen titles released in the previous period such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U showed steady sales. The global sales of the Wii U hardware and software reached 3.06 million and 22.62 million units respectively.

For amiibo, the figure-type and the card-type sold approximately 20.50 million units and approximately 21.50 million units, respectively, and the platform showed strong performance globally without losing momentum. Furthermore, sales of additional download content for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U increased and total download sales reached 30.5 billion yen. As a result, net sales were 425.6 billion yen (of which overseas sales were 308.9 billion yen or 72.6% of the total sales) and operating income was 42.4 billion yen. Ordinary income was 55.2 billion yen and profit attributable to owners of parent was 40.5 billion yen.”

Nintendo2-670x121.jpg

“For Nintendo 3DS, we will globally release a special edition hardware pre-installed with Pokémon title(s) from the original Pokémon series on February 27 which marks the 20th year since the original Pokémon series release. Furthermore, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and key titles from third-party publishers are scheduled for release.

For Wii U, we will strive to maintain the attention level of Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, which are continuing to show steady sales, while introducing new titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

Meanwhile, for amiibo, we will continue to expand the product lineup in order to maintain momentum. At the same time, we will aim to further expand sales by offering new gaming experiences with the use of amiibo. In addition, the first application for smart devices, Miitomo, is scheduled for release. There is no revision to the consolidated financial forecast for this fiscal year, announced on May 7, 2015.”

Lastly, a detailed breakdown of sales by hardware model, including a forecast of shipments for the full fiscal year. In particular, Nintendo forecasts the shipment total of 3.4 million Wii U units during the whole fiscal year (from April 1st, 2015 to March 31st, 2016), and 7.6 millon 3DS units.

Interestingly, the new The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is nos listed as a 2016 release again, after being labeled as “TBD” in last quarter’s financial documents. Fans can now breathe easier. Genei Ibun Roku #FE is also confirmed for both Europe and North America with a 2016 release, but unfortunately we didn’t get a narrowed down window compared to what we already knew.

Wii U has INSANE attach rates. No other console this can can even come close.

Hyrule Warriors is making its way to 3DS as “Hyrule Warriors: All-Stars”, it’s been revealed.

The base game seems to be very similar to the original on Wii U. However, there will be at least two new characters, including Tetra and King of Red Lions.

Characters from the new 3DS version can be transferred over to the original Wii U game.

LOL it reminds me of Dead Rising on Wii. The whole 3 Zombies on screen at once. This isn't much better with just a few on screen at once instead of hundreds like Wii U.

Considering how little they  but improve textures to the game. Unlikely. Pretty much a straight port with better textures. If they were going to add the Wii version they would have straight up ported the Wii version. Besides game controls better without waggle.

I never played the original, so this'll be cool. And yeah, the hate is pretty strong. "It doesn't look much different!" No, you're just remembering it wrong. Look up a video of the original and experience the blurry, low res goodness.

I do hope they make some gameplay improvements though. If it wasn't in the original, the auto-running Epona from Zelda U would be cool, and having inventory and map on the game pad is a must.

I do hope they have the option for wiimote controls or standard controls. If they make the wiimote controls less waggle-y, I'd totally want to use that.

It's the Gamecube version. He is Left Handed so unlikely any waggle is in the game.

#317264 [confimed] Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U

Posted by Raiden on 15 November 2015 - 12:45 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Nah, there's no basis for this. WWHD had gameplay improvements, there's no reason to believe TPHD won't. And yes, I'm saying get rid of waggle. They have the technology for 1:1 motion control now. And having Wii controls would not be hard at all. I don't see what's so hard to get here.

Because WW was part remake not just a port plus first party. TPHD is done by a 3rd party. WWHD was made to setup development for Zelda U.  Had there been waggle or anything else they would have mentioned it. It's not a game they need to hide in secrecy as it's 10 years old. So they would have said something. The only real thing they will add in amiibo. TPHD is likely done just sitting on release for march.

#317269 [confimed] Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U

Doesn't sound like it's finished to me at all, then.

Not all that uncommon to sit on game sometimes. Esp in a crowded schedule(Rodea was sat on 4 years). Nintendo has 4 retail releases this month and next for Wii U. NOA never does January games on Wii U and February is more focused on FE. So they have Feb,TP for March ,SF for April and Pokken for May and leave summer a blank as usual. Not to mention They want to release it in 2016 30th anniversary for Zelda.
