I've been playing through MGS3 again, and I keep forgetting how many different things you can do to meet your objective. I've also been playing Kirby Triple Deluxe, Pokemon SoulSilver, Platinum, and Alpha Sapphire.

#310719 Nintendo gone Mobile/Nintendo NX system

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 18 March 2015 - 02:05 PM in General Gaming

I'm reading it over again, and it says that we won't here more of NX until next year. That fits with an average console lifespan of 5-6 years if it releases the year after it's announced. This isn't a third pillar: this is the next gen. The picture in the OP is about the membership service. That will still include Wii U and 3DS, like how PS+ is still on PS3 and Games for Gold on 360.

#310689 Nintendo gone Mobile/Nintendo NX system

Depending on the release date it could be their hybrid system. X is used by Japanese companies as "Cross" (Think Street Fighter X Tekken and Project X Zone), so it could be that. However, a hybrid system should come out in 2017 or 2018 because that would fall in line with the expected end of the Wii U and (New) 3DS's lifecycle (Wii U being 5-6 years and 3DS being 6 to 7, which is similar to their other systems, such as the DS, Gameboy, and every home system). However, it's status as a 3rd Pillar implies an earlier release date, but a hybrid wouldn't be good for the Wii U. This is all very interesting, and I can't wait to hear more about it, probably at E3.

I just hope that by Smartphones and Tablets, they include Windows Phone, 8, and RT. So many apps skip out on the Windows Store it's not funny. I am speaking as the owner of a Surface Pro 3. I also hope that the PC section is an application and not just a website. If you're going to have an application for an external device, you have to make it available everywhere. I'm talking iOS, Android, Windows Phone, OSX, Windows 7, 8, 10, Linux, Chrome Store, and anywhere else possible. Get this out to anyone and everyone.

#308398 Wii U Zelda Map Analysis

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 07 February 2015 - 12:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

This is either on the Xenoblade Engine or a brand new one, because I don't think that Nintendo has another engine that is made for large open worlds. Wind Waker is the closest thing to one that they have, but I'm pretty sure that it's not that because of the sheer size of Zelda U. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Xenoblade Chronicles is the largest game Nintendo has ever made (soon to be topped by X), and that engine is apparently unbreakable, so it's probably on that.

World design wise, it's definitely like Zelda 1 simply due to the sheer size and freedom you appear to have. That's why I think Zelda 1 is the best Zelda game (even though Wind Waker is my favorite). They give you so much freedom to do whatever you want. Want to do a sword less run? You can do that all the way until the final boss. Want to do the second dungeon last? Go for it. Before you enter the first dungeon, you can get a sword upgrade, shield upgrade, a tunic upgrade from the blue ring, the blue candle, bombs, and 3 extra unit's of health. Most games give you the default sword and shield and maybe a tool.

What I'm trying to say before I went off fanboying is that the world in the original allowed for freedom by hardly sectioning off anything to you. The only things that were mandatory was that you beat all 8 dungeons before entering Death Mountain, and that you eventually need to get a sword and a few items which could be done whenever you want. From what they've told us, what we can see, and what A Link Between Worlds has done with dungeons, we look to be getting that world again, and I'm super excited.

Honestly I see myself exploring and doing whatever i may do before I even enter the first dungeon.. I may try to do them in reverse order if that is possible!

If they design this just like the first one, then you could probably do that. I've seen runs that did the second dungeon last, doing the first dungeon third, and much more.

Oh yeah, the first zelda had mostly weapons upgrades, and very few actual movement upgrades.

I think it was the ladder, flute and the raft that were the only progression obstacles in the game found in dungeons.

I think I recall the 8th dungeon being a hugely popular one to go to early, if just to get the magic key. You could buy the candle, get a bomb drop, and loot the 8th dungeon in under like, 10 minutes?

That is true. You don't even have to finish the dungeon; you could just get the magic key to not worry about locked doors. It's fitting how the magic key is in the second to last dungeon in the game, but it is most useful if you break the dungeon order, which encourages exploring and experimenting. Players that go directly through the game in order have to worry about having enough keys (not usually an issue because keys aren't limited by dungeon as they are now), but if you decided to look around and try the 8th dungeon first you were rewarded with something incredibly useful. While the dungeons have a listed order, there was nothing restricting the player from going in whatever order they chose, and that's what I miss about Zelda. A Link Between Worlds was great about going through dungeons in any order, but all the major items required for dungeons were in Ravio's shop, so you didn't discover them (I haven't finished it, so if there's something that I'm missing I apologize). In the first game, you found items in dungeons, so you had that sense of discovery. It also happened to avoid the trope of using the item you get in a dungeon up until you go to the next one and get a new item by making the item you get not necessary in that dungeon. The boomerang was useful in the first dungeon, but it wasn't required for the boss. The first game got it right, but then later games somehow follow that trope (which I believe was set by Ocarina of Time. I'm not to sure; I haven't finished Link's Awakening or A Link to the Past). That's why I'm glad that Zelda U is looking towards the original for inspiration.

I kind of rambled on a bit, but I don't think I really got to talk about why I think Zelda 1 is the best one in detail. I'm just super excited for this game in the same way you're excited for Xenoblade (and this game, as we seem to have similar reasons for excitement).

Modern Air Combat.

I know what it is, but has Ace Combat ever been on Nintendo? Were there even rumors about it? It just came out of left field and I'm surprised that it's even a thing.

So I'm in my web development class furiously refreshing this page and twitter trying to get news. Also, maybe I'll finally get Super Mario Galaxy 2, but I like how they skipped two systems in their Virtual Console.

Do I want that Majora's Mask 3DS? It looks so good, but I don't need a New 3DS (still rocking the Ocarina of Time one).

I saw the last 30 min, no wii U at all... absent... We may have a glimpse of a new wii U2 in 2015 E3...

It was a dedicated for 3ds show?  news articles troll us if it was a dedicated for 3ds. I got an email last night about today and wii U X game @nintendo direct...

They opened with Wii U info. Mario Party, Splatoon, Xenoblade, and more were shown.

So are some games exclusive to the XL version of the New Nintendo 3DS? Bill keeps saying "XL" for Xenoblade, etc

The regular isn't coming out in North America. They will work for both if you have one.

#306894 Nintendo Direct 1/14/15

1 Euro is worth much more than 1 American dollar. It won't hold up. Expect at least $13-14 before doubling a week after release. Still, Prime Trilogy is often over $100 anyways and it's three games so that's good value if you ask me.

That's still less expensive than a new copy of Galaxy 2. I'm definitely going to get that now.

Can they release a game that I don't have that  exclusive to the New 3DS so I have a reason to get the Majora's Mask one?

8.99 Euro for the first week, then doubles after that. Don't ask me how much that is in American moneys.

If that deal holds for America, I may jump on that. Galaxy 2 is the one big Wii game I don't have.

Ace combat series been around since PS2. You fly planes and jets and fight. There was a Wii one based on a good anime and a good game called The Skycrawlers Innocent Aces. Beware tho the anime is all kinds of depressing but fantastic. Takes place during WWII

I know what Ace Combat is. The tone I was going for was one of shock that a new one was on 3DS, as I didn't associate the series with Nintendo systems because I don't follow it.

If you looked on that same page, it was only claimed that it would be 50 for the idea that discs could be dual layered, but that would make the streaming of the data take longer, affecting the quality of the seamless world. Try harder next time.

#306963 New Xenoblade X Trailer discussion

I love how the camera in the mech is zoomed out when compared to earlier trailers. Makes the world look even bigger because the mechs are put in perspective. It also allows for more objects to be on screen.

They better spec console put in the hands of sub-pars devs(A majority) , you can't start abusing the console because nothing like has come to on those consoles.

That's exactly what he's talking about. Developers don't truly take advantage of the new hardware except to make world's bigger and look better.

#306970 New Xenoblade X Trailer discussion

Ok in doing some research I found a couple things I have a theory on. Granted it could be background that means nothing or something unlrelated but for the sake of argument I have a couple ideas I will post.

This thing can possibly match up with a few items from XB I will post 07jHyAG.jpg
rVJg3Ak.jpgCould be this gate. That small door alone if a few hundred feet tall and the outer part extends past the screen aways. So that is one but there is more
TKTUylM.jpgmaybe the big central part of the mechonis sword minus galahad fortress
9zPuQug.jpg could be just a massive gear from anywhere off mechonis itself.
WVxL00p.jpglast one I feel is a out there idea but throwing it out anyway. One of the colonies. Even colony 6 or 9 what's left turned on it's side for whatever reason
Could be a crashed city from one of the ships that did not make it in story of XCX so that's what I think are some possibilities

I should also add me and my friend have a theory and have had since E3. This game could possibly be both a sequel and prequel. Now some of this will be a little spoiler ish but not putting in tags because I don't want this post interupted. So I will put a red line below this text to let you know NOT TO READ FURTHER.

==========================================================================

You better put that in spoiler tags right now. You don't talk about the ending of an RPG willy-nilly. The red line doesn't help much.

#312096 Black Ops 3 headed to Wii U?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 16 April 2015 - 05:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

People still play these games? I really wish the series would just die out but people keep throwing money at it for some strange reason.

It's like a bag of Doritos: it's mindless fun that you can easily enjoy, but it's not that great and you can do much better.

#312099 Black Ops 3 headed to Wii U?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 16 April 2015 - 06:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I wouldn't call a bag of doritos 'mindless fun' but I get what you mean. I also wouldn't call these games cheap because they're full priced retail games, they're definitely accessible and that's the main source of appeal but it's just odd to me that these companies can sell the same game and people still pay good amount of money for them. It's the same damn game and it's not even a good one, like you both said it's accessible, mindless fun. Consumers are stupid.

Cheap fun as in simple. It doesn't make you think, nor is it difficult. Also, even though they're all mediocre at best, there is a noticible difference in lit between the three studios, with the Treyarch games (the ones I like) being the best of the three.

So I was cleaning the garage a few days ago and I found a sealed copy of Phantom Hourglass. I borrowed my cousin's game and beat it on that copy, but then I guess I got it for Christmas or something and never opened it.
