#8289 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

I like the adaptability, like some smashes are outright useless against some characters/stages (Dk on any big stage as an example)

Yes, SO true!

I've actually heard rumors that capcom is going to have a character be in SSB. I hope it's Megaman.

Megaman would be great!

I've read it now, and I disagree with it for one reason, it makes it too complicated. It's not a 1 0n 1 fighter like Street Fighter, it's a party game (it always has been and always will be). It could make interesting gameplay mechanics, for other games.

Anywho, characters that need to be in the next one are:

1. Ridley (they smallinized charizard, why not ridley?)
2. Little Mac
3. Dark Samus
4. Waluigi
5. Micaiah or Hector
6. Paper Mario
7. Isaac
8. Zoroark
9. Mii
10. Animal Crossing lad or Lass
11. Mega Man
12. TINGLE!!!!!!!!!!!

You're response is VERY similar to someone else that had that same idea. I responded to them with this statement:

"I don't think it would be too complicated. The fighters wouldn't have access to ALL three of their Final Smashes in one match. They'd have to choose just one before the match begins. Adding more to the fighting aspect of game couldn't possibly HURT the game overall could it? I think it would allow a player, that's WILLING to experiment more with his or her MAIN character(s), to learn to fight three ways because of the three Final Smash system. This would make the more competitive player happy I think. It'd be pretty hard to make Smash Bros. a complicated game because it isn't."

i like this
like b and down for the close range, b for he far, and i don't know maybe b and z for the heavy??

Which part did you like most about this idea?

Keep in mind...

I said,"FIGHTERS CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE (I SAID ONE AS IN NUMBER 1) FINAL SMASH AT THE CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN.

Many people seemed to over look that part of my idea. I guess they read it to quickly or something.

I'd never suggest that the fighters would have access to all three of their Final Smashes in one match.

Again, they can only choose 1 of the 3 Final Smashes before the match begins...just like Street Fighter.

I want Travis Touchdown in even tho he has no chance of getting in.

Mr.Touchdown indeed has a chance of getting in. Remember years ago around the time speculation about the roster of SSBB was all over the net? Nintendo stated that (this may not be an accurate statement, but it sorta went like this) "Any character that has appeared on an Nintendo platform in anyway, form, or fashion has a shot of making the roster."

*cough* That also includes Cloud *cough* Strife *cough* *cough* Game Boy Advanced *cough*

i don't think anyone has said this (sorry if anyone has) but it seems like Nintendo and Ubisoft have made a pretty good relationship. so for a 3rd party character from ubisoft i think Rayman would be a good fit in the world of super smash bros

Pretty good prediction. Many people HAVEN'T thought about this.

I think Rayman would be the type of character that would kinda give the ..."Huh? He's in the game, too?!!" type reaction that ROB had on people.

I wouldn't count Rayman out at all. **(:D)**

I want Bomberman, Megaman, Rayman and Pacman to be playable characters. The Wii U will support 25GB discs at least so i hope Sakurai strain on this game adding lots of charatcers from the video game universe. I know the Smash Bros is supposed to be a Nintendo charatcers fighter, but i think every character can frame on the game. Sorry for my english, thumbs up if u agree with me :P

Thumbs up bro. **(:))**

In my opinion...Nintendo has created MORE than just another Nintendo game. They've created something truly special for the ENTIRE video game universe. To me, Super Smash Bros. is a celebration, a gathering, a Hall of Fame. I believe every important video game character that has truly helped shape this industry in some way should be celebrated on this game, and we will eventually see that day.

Super Smash Bros. is more than a game, it's like a video game museum! I'm not just a Nintendo fan...I'm a video game fan!

I also believe that we will ALL see the day when the video game industry as a whole realises this...THEN Super Smash Bros. will become what it was destined to be from the VERY START!

It will become what the Super Bowl is to football fans...it will become what WrestleMania is to wrestling fans...it will be a sort of gathering that happens every few years like the olympics...it will be a gathering of the franchises from every side of the globe to come and show respect, do battle, and CELEBRATE the video game industry as a whole!

PLEASE! Put more characters into the SMASH of FAME!!! **(:()**

Yes i've already read it, nice thoughts dude...
Try this e-mail: nintendo@noa.nintendo.com - is a Nintendo E-mail address and they might tell sakurai about the final smash idea.
Only by looking for the Wii U's controller i can imagine lots of functionalities in smash bros. franchise...

Imagine the voice/video chat during a online match, you can see you opponent's face when shooted out from the stage; the touch screen could be used for extra functionalities like using final smash, for example; and an awesome idea (and it's what fox final smash could be like) is using the controller's giroscope to lead and shoot into your enemies on the stage during the final smash time.

this is just some ideas for the next games, hope they strive themselves to create not another game, but THE game that will revolutionize the way you play a fighter. sorry for the tirade :)

Thanks a bunch!! **(:()**

I'm always thinking about new ideas for the smash bros. franchise and i have also sent an e-mail to nintendo. They said they will make what they can to let sakurai know my thoughts. Hope the new game have lots of new content and DLCs. We are all counting on you Sakurai :(

You know what...I should try emailing Nintendo my Final Smash idea. Have you seen my thread? It's on the second page. It's the one that says SSB4 Final Smash Idea.

If they were going to include certain characters from a single video game series, I'd say go with these characters:

No More Heroes:
Travis Touchdown
Shinobu

Tales of Symphonia:
Lloyd Irving
Sheena Fujibayashi or Colette Brunel

Ninja Gaiden:
Ryu Hyabusa
Ayane

Megaman Series:
Megaman
Zero

Muramasa:
Momohime
Kisuke

Resident Evil:
Chris or Leon (Leon > Chris...Leon more EPIC than Chris..but Chris was first)
Jill

Street Fighter:
Ryu
Chun-li

Soul Calibur Series (Heck...they got to use Link once):
Xianghua
Nightmare

Metal Gear Series:
Snake
Raiden

Sonic Series:
Sonic
Tails

Castlevania:
Simon Belmont
Alucard

Tomb Raider:
Lara Croft

Final Fantasy Series:
Cloud
Tifa
Sephiroth

Devil May Cry:
Dante
Trish
Virgil

Damn you Rare!...Perfect Dark:
Joanna Dark

For Nintendo to keep in mind, they should add certain characters from their own games too:

Mario Series:
Daisy
Rosalina

Fire Emblem:
Roy
Lin

Star Fox:
Krystal

Metroid:
Dark Samus...(NO RIDLEY!! He's WAAAAAAAAAAAAY to huge!!! Leave him a boss character!...maybe an assist, too?)

Golden Sun:
Isaac

That's all I can think of at the moment. LOL!

I think Ryu Hyabusa and Ayane from Ninja Gaiden and the Dead of Alive series would be AWESOME characters to include in the next Super Smash Bros. **(:D)**

My dreams of seeing Joanna Dark in a Smash game hit the rocks years ago...thanks Rare...

At least the Cloaking Device was in Smash Bros. Melee. (:P)

Did you know that the "Motion Sensor" bomb in Melee was actually the Proximity Mine from Goldeneye 007? Take another look and be amazed! (:P)

ALSO!! In the Japanese version of Melee, I think the "Motion Sensor" bomb was the Proximity Mine from Perfect Dark on the N64. MAN they got SOOO LUCKY!!! (>_<)LOL!

#3256 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Sirralart SuperDragon on 28 May 2011 - 01:32 PM in Wii U Games and Software

"Spoiled" the post to keep it from getting too long.

Three final smashes is an interesting idea, but I think that's just making Smash unnecessarily complicated. I like the idea of each character having a single ultimate, last-resort move. Having three of them seems a bit like overkill to me.

Now, you bring up the possibility of Street Fighter and Final Fantasy characters getting into Smash. I think it's important to remember that Smash was always intended to be a celebration of Nintendo's own franchises and intellectual properties, with third-parties being thrown in more for the fun of it than to actually make them part of the Smash universe. Then again, I'm not Sakurai, so I could be mistaken in saying that.

The FF and SS series are different from Nintendo's in that they don't exactly have a single character who can stand in and represent the entire series, and adding enough characters from those series into Smash to make it "fair" on them would make a significant part of the roster third-party, which I don't think is the direction Nintendo wants to go.

I don't think it would be too complicated. It'd be pretty hard to make Smash Bros. a complicated game because it isn't.

I don't think there will EVER be more non-nintendo characters than actual nintendo characters in a Smash Bros. game.

It wouldn't be too hard for them to choose two or maybe three to represent a non-nintendo series. It really wouldn't take that many. They could choose the series' representatives based off of popularity. They could choose the most popular hero, the most popular female hero, and the most popular bad guy in that series.

I can't see SSB being SSB with a whole bunch of Street Fighter Characters in it.

3rd party Characters like Mega Man and such are more suited for the franchise and most of the chars should be from the Nintendo Universe.

Too many 3rd party characters would ruin the game's atmosphere (or whatever) in my opinion.

I'm probably telling it the wrong way. I'm NOT saying throw in hordes of non-nintendo characters. That's WAY off topic. I was just trying to explain my three Final Smash idea in detail. If they WERE going to include Street Fighter in Smash, I'd say just two or three. Not 10.

#3240 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Sirralart SuperDragon on 28 May 2011 - 12:08 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Now that we're ALL talking about Smash Bros. I'd like to share and IDEA of mine:

Here's an idea I've had in my mind for a while.

More than likely, Nintendo will EVENTUALLY have a Street Fighter character or Street Fighter characters in Super Smash Bros. so I believe Nintendo will have to step things up a notch from Brawl to make this game BETTER overall.

I suggest throwing in 3 Final Smashes instead of one.

The Street Fighter characters are know for having MANY signature Super Moves, so lets assume that the Nintendo characters will also have more Super Moves this time around. Working off this idea will open up MANY new Final Smash ideas for ALL the fighters!!!

We will assume that the 3 Final Smash System will work like the 3 Super Move system in Street Fighter III: Third Strike. At the character select menu, players will have the choice of selecting one of three Final Smashes.
(I will repeat this again...THE FIGHTERS CAN ONLY CHOOSE 1 OF THE 3 FINAL SMASHES BEFORE THE MATCH BEGINS)
Depending on which Final Smash is selected will result in certain conditions for breaking the Smash Ball.

Lets use the Street Fighter character Ryu for example since he's the most basic and balanced character the series has to offer.

If he were in a Super Smash Bros. game with the 3 Final Smash System implemented, the system would work like this:

Final Smash 1: Shinkuu Hadouken (The beam version from the VS. games) - This will be Ryu's most basic and WEAKEST Final Smash. It travels long distance and it's easy to deal damage to opponents at a distance, BUT lets say it only does a maximum of 50-55% damage if it FULLY connects. HERE'S THE TWIST!!! For picking his "weaker" Final Smash, this allows Ryu to break the Smash Ball more easily than normal if he were to pick say a "stronger" Final Smash.

Final Smash 2: Shinkuu Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku - This is Ryu's Super Move that you see often in Capcom cross over games. This Final Smash isn't as easy to hit with, but the damage is MUCH greater than his first Final Smash; probably 70-85% if it FULLY connects. This move works great on opponents that have SURROUNDED you instead of having to space yourself away from your opponents like his Shinkuu Hadouken. This move of course hits multiple opponents and also sucks in opponents if they are within a certain distance. I can see enemies being swarmed with lightning as Ryu spins and strikes them with his foot (Ryu's element is lightning for those of you that didn't know. Ken's element is Fire). This move sends opponents flying horizontally on the last hit. This move sounds quite powerful, no? HERE'S THE NEXT TWIST!!! Choosing THIS Final Smash will make it a little harder for Ryu to break the Smash Ball!!! Do you see where I'm going with this? (:D)

Final Smash 3: Shin Shouryuuken - This move is OBVIOUSLY Ryu's STRONGEST FINAL SMASH!!! The damage is insane!!!! Probably 105-150%...pretty much guaranteeing a K.O. if you land it. Landing it though is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!! Your opponent must be at CLOSE RANGE!!! IN YOUR FACE!!! They'd have to be pretty stupid to get caught by this, but if you're a skilled SSB Ryu player...you can find ways of connecting with this DEADLY FINAL SMASH!!! Also, this move is made to hit only one opponent (Like Link's Tri Force Slash) BUT if two or three opponents happen to be right in front of you...then they will also take damage from the move. Breaking the Smash Ball takes a while with this Final Smash selected.

There you have it. That's my idea. Each character will have 3 Final Smashes set in this type of way: A long distance move(A projectile of some sorts or a dash type move that only connects if you touch an opponent), a move for hitting opponents that have surrounded you, and a nearly instant K.O. move that's VERY HARD to land and EASY to waste. How about more TRANSFORMATION type final smashes like when Sonic turns into Super Sonic or when Bowser turns into Giga Bowser? Can you imagine Link turning into Fierce Deity Link as his 3rd and most powerful Final Smash?

The Final Smashes don't necessarily have to be in that order, but ALL characters will have 3 Final Smashes, and each one will have a sort of handicap for breaking the Smash Ball depending on the power of the Final Smash and which type of Final Smash you've selected.

REMEMBER! ONLY 1 OF THE 3 FINAL SMASHES CAN BE SELECTED BEFORE THE MATCH BEGINS!

What do you think???

Got any Final Smash ideas that could be used for some of your favorite characters (or characters you wish were in SSB) based off of this make-believe 3 Final Smash System?

ALSO!!!

You know, this is interesting. Most of everyone wants Final Fantasy characters in Smash Bros., but MOST of the characters never appeared on a Nintendo platform.

What if we thought of it like this? The Final Fantasy series is an entire series in one isn't it? The only thing is that it has numbered sequels with different characters and storylines.

I think this is were it gets confusing. The Final Fantasy SERIES started on Nintendo, but half of it's characters weren't on a Nintendo platform.

Does this TRULY exclude the other half of Final Fantasy characters from making an appearance in Smash Bros. just because they were on a platform other than Nintendo or does the ENTIRE series -that started on the original Nintendo- give hope that ALL Final Fantasy characters have a chance to make an appearance?

Again, the Final Fantasy SERIES started on Nintendo. Would this FACT help open the door for more Final Fantasy characters?

I think two essential characters we need are Paper Mario and Knuckles the Echidna. Paper Mario would be like Dr. Mario was in Melee: he would be somewhat of a clone of Mario, but with his own unique attacks thrown in (hammer and stickers to tie in with Paper Mario 3D.) Knuckles would be the best fit for a 2nd Sonic character, because he's basically born to fight. He has spikes on his knuckles, he can glide (like Charizard and Meta Knight,) and is one of the original Sonic characters. It all falls together perfectly!

Good point about Knuckles. I failed to realise that. LOL!

So far, no one wants Pac Man to be in it. Good because, in my opinion, it would be a dumb idea. Same thing with K.Rool ; why is it that everyone wants him to be there? I don't get it...at all  :D

I think the reason some  people want K.Rool in is because the simple fact that he's THE MAIN boss in the Donkey Kong series. Just like Dedede is for the Kirby series.

I think we'll see Megaman in SSB4, He's surely an obvious choice. But no other 3rd party characters, 3 is enough, it will no longer be the "Nintendo game".

I also have an idea for a new mode; Kill limit mode. I figured that Stock mathces have a kill limit really, 4 people with 5 lives each, the most kills anyone can get is 15. Think about it, if you had a kill limit set at 10 kills, it will create competition and it will be harder to win than other modes. And I feel (unlike stock mode) that it give everyone a fairer shout at winning the matches, as they will be in it the whole time.

Ummm...not a bad idea at all! I'd love it for sure!

...

...

By the way...

So........

...

...

Who in here thinks that Capcom's going to help polish up the new Super Smash Bros. fightning engine?

I mean you gotta give these people credit...they KNOW how to make fighting games...then all the talk about including a Capcom character in SSB4...then the complaints about how Brawl was "crappy" in terms of fighting...I don't think it's too far fetched.

Just for anyone who gets the wrong idea about what I'm posting (which what usually happens LOL!) I'm not saying they will completely redo the entire engine and include health bars...I'm saying help build upon what is already available to them. Just help make everything more balanced and "fighter-like" (it's not a word, I know) like with actual combos and other stuff. (Not that SSB DOESN'T have combos...trust me...SSBB had combos. It's just that not ALL characters had the ability to combo...well, at least to my knowledge they didn't. I know how to do Peach's 12 hit combo. I think it does about 50-60% damage.)

#7575 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Sirralart SuperDragon on 16 June 2011 - 08:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Glad to see that this topic is alive and kicking. :D Expect me to be frequenting this thread.

Anyway, I made a blog in regards to Super Smash Bros. 4 here. What do you think of this idea to have separate rosters for both versions? Also expect more blogs for SSB4 from me to come in the future.

These are the characters I want to see in the game:
- A Fire Emblem rep (Lyn/Micaich/Caeda/etc.)
- Bowser Jr.
- Dixie Kong (Preferably as a tag team with Diddy, but I would be fine with going solo as long as she's not a clone)
- Fierce Diety Link (Unlikely, but come on, he wouldn't be a clone of Link anymore!)
- Geno (Very unlikely, but you never know)
- (Kid) Goku (I know he'll never get in, but dang it if it was possible, I would put him in)
- Issac (Could be 3DS exclusive)
- King K. Rool
- Krystal
- Little Mac
- Medusa
- Mega Man (My most wanted, Classic version)'
- Meowth
- Mewtwo (The only Melee character that deserves to return)
- Paper Mario (Questionable, but he would be incredibly unique if done right)
- Ray 01/MK III
- Ridley
- Ryu Hayabusa (Chances are unlikely, but hey, Tecmo has good relationship with Nintendo, plus he's awesome, so why not?)
- Saki Amamiay/Isa Jo
- Samurai Goroh
- Slime
- Stafy (Starfy in Japan, could be 3DS exclusive)
- Takamaru
- Travis Touchdown (If Suda wants him in, I hopes he tries to do that. Granted he's very unlikely, but he would still fit into the universe like Snake did)
- Victini (Can't really be bothered to care about Zoroark. Victini on the other hand...)

I see at least nine of these characters getting in.

My dream roster: 59 characters slots (63 including transformations)

What I am expecting: At least 44 character but no more then 49 overall (48-53 including transformations). Will present my new roster with 44 characters later.
He has made a few Nintendo appearance this gen. Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars on the Wii and Super Street Fighter IV 3D on the 3DS are good examples of this. He's actually the second most likely new third-party character in the game, next to the Blue Bomber.No. He might be an excellent lawyer, but he is completely unsuited for the game.I don't think an overload of third-party characters is a good idea. Remember, this is a fighting franchise for Nintendo characters and there are still around 20 potential reps just from Nintendo themselves. I say we should have five or six max but only expect three or if you're optimistic, four.I would love to have this feature in the game. I remember suggesting it back in the SSB4 Wii-U thread in Smash World Forums. It would be great for tournament people.

I don't think Ryu Hyabusa is TOO unlikely. He's kinda in the same boat as Solid Snake...the Ninja Gaiden series began on the original Nes just like Metal Gear. I think the hero of Ninja Gaiden would feel right at home with his OLD SCHOOL friends. It'd be kinda like a BIG REUNION!!!

Snake: Hyabusa! What's up man?! Long time no see!
Hyabusa: Hey man! Looking great! You're all 3 demensional and s#!t!
Snake: Hey! You too!!!
-They both laugh at each other-
Hyabusa: Man, we sure have come a long way since our Nintendo debut haven't we? WAIT! Something's missing...Where's that old plumber at?!
Snake: Dude, have you seen Samus?!
Hyabusa: JEEZ! I had no clue she was a chick!...and she's F**KIN' SMOKIN'!!!
