Well here's an example of what an MH veteran will do for newcomer's on a good day. The thread doesn't see much use these days but it's a good stockpile of info.
http://thewiiu.com/t...te-help-thread/

The MH community reacts to how they're approached. Come up to them saying, "This game is terrible! It's too slow and I think it should control and play like (random game here)! I shouldn't be failing on the easy monster! You guys are blind fanboys for liking this!" and they won't hardly give you the time of day. Show humility and ask questions with intent to learn, and they'll answer your questions as fully as possible. There's usually a veteran prowling miiverse at any given time answering questions.

I'll tell you right now that MH is one of the hardest games to get into. Very sharp learning curve and the game will never hold your hand. It's a game that requires effort to get better at. But that is also what makes it satisfying. When you beat something in this game, it was done by your own skill. There's no invincibility potion or "do this to win." You won against all the odds and have earned your victory.

There's a demo on both the Wii U and 3DS.  Though the only way to truly tell if you like MH is to try the MH cycle, or as call it, FCFR

Fight the monster

Carve the body

Forge equipment

Repeat

The demo only lets you do the first part.  Part of the satifaction is making equipment out of your kills and using it to kill something bigger.  The demo also only gives you 20 minutes, 50 in the full game, making even the easy monster near impossible for first time players.  Do not even attempt the hard monster.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Is anyone still playing this? Well I know lots are but anyone on here?
I could do with some UK players to help me with getting to HR8.

I normally play in the evening at around 7pm GMT and after 10pm at the weekends.

European players welcome too.
