If Nintendo doesn't sell enough Wii U's, do you think it'll get a price drop?

It depends how much the console is. Nintendo said they weren't going to sell for a loss on the Wii U so we just have to wait and see

I can't see it failing initially if its launched before christmas around the world but if it gets delayed and launches in January or February it could lead the launch being low numbers and they will be under pressure to drop the price quickly. Hopefully there won't be problems manufacturing them in large enough numbers and it will be a huge success. There will always be price cuts eventually but if all goes well for Nintendo then that might not happen for a year or so from launch.

Nintendo specifically stated somewhere (not sure) that when they price their device, they want to do it in a way that the Wii U will never get a price drop for at least 4 years, like the Wii. WII U WILL RULE.

If they don't delay it and it's priced right, people will buy it and it won't need a price drop but if people don't buy it, it might get a price drop. Hopefully the Wii U will be a success! :)

We won't have to worry about that. It won't be the 3DS launch all over again.

It should be fine, they are realesing it with a mario bros game the last2 (not including NSMB2) have sold 25 million units + worldwide

(insert your argument that both those games already had a large install base of over 25 million consoles already sold by the time they were released)

^^My counter to that would be... Mario is amazing and he looks like Ron Jeremy in a plumber costume

you would think nintendo would learn from their past mistake of the 3ds, they did say people would be "pleasantly suprised" by the price, so unlike 3ds, it will be priced ok the first time, a price cut would be plain suicide afterwords

if the console is 400 nucks or higher they will drop it, but i doubt it will be that high anyway.

300 bucks or even 350 would be a great price point,325 would be perfect. if these are the prices than the price wont drop at all nonatter what

Everyone is all worked up thinking the price will be high because the GamePad...and the GamePad may be pricey..but that doesn't mean the rest of the hardware is. Bet you the GamePad costs more to manufacture than the systems themselves.

Nintendo doesn't want another 3DS. This thing is not going to get a price drop for a while, unless it sells like 2 units. Otherwise it will keep it's value.

If the Wii U doesn't sell well, then Nintendo won't have much choice but to drop the price. That could mean making a loss, but it would beat having thousands of unsold Wii Us, and they would still have the chance to make profits in the long term from software sales. Hopefully it'll sell well from the start though and a major price drop won't be necessary.

Seeing the techology into the Wii U. It should at least cost $350. I could see Ninty losing money if they sold it below that. That is, if they don't sell well.

I think it all depends on the launch price, maybe we should predict the initial price before a price drop.... I go with $300...

We need a peek into launch period sales before we can estimate a price drop.

Unfortunately, my time machine is still under construction.
