Oh yeah, that annoys me whenever I want to find old stuff every now and then for the sake of finding old stuff because I'm such a live-in-the-past kind of person.

I'd say just make sure the new admin (admins?) and if there's any new mods, be sure they're trustworthy so there's not any issues regarding behavior or absence (see: Feld0 and AMAC). Also, in the extremely slim chance that Feld0 comes back (or at least takes a moment to address us on what's gonna happen), I think it'd be nice to give chat another shot. Considering I don't think the funding was an issue. Even if for just a day like Blake said, it'd be nice.

This is true. I think that most members who want to see it return are the trouble makers, and I think we've all learnt what it means when it goes out of hand. If anything, we now have a community who can use it appropriately instead of a few members like we did before (I don't count as a responsible member). I reckon it's worth having it once more.

I've already began discussions on that.  I'm not planning on immediately giving up power, I'll get Feldo to make the new admin, but I'd keep power long enough in case any problems come up.

The question is if I step down from the admin position completely, or just in name.  I'd rather step down completely, but if I need to retain some power, I can.  I'm not the only person who can contact Feldo though, he is actually pretty easy to contact (even easier if you are the "admin").

Yeah, I think I was the one who contacted him one of the other times when we really wanted it. I even made a threat to not come back until he responded. What a troll feld0 is, giving me a response 5 minutes after I called him out.

Even if you couldn't, five person chat is better than none.

I don't know if this is cause of the member bar thing (which you got to exceptionally quickly by the way )

Mourn, bring the chat back for like one day, if possible. Or do you have to pay to host it? I don't care about the state of the forums at the moment, I just want to have the chat back for even a small amount of time for old time's sake.
 
Doesn't really matter if it happens or not, but it would be cool.

We're all smart enough to not let it get to the point where it gets removed again, and a lot of people enjoy the feature.

Just remove the Wii U News section completely, anything that can be posted there could be posted in either the Wii U Games or Hardware section.

The only thing that is going to happen by leaving it in place is an increase in duplicate threads.

Why do you want the chat back so badly? IMO that wouldn't be a good idea, even for a short amount of time.

If I recall correctly, up until now I was against the idea. The community has evolved quite a bit since chat was removed months ago, with most of the troublemakers gone. You've been gone for a while now, so you're not aware of this evolution.

I feel like we could appoint chat dedicated mods, write new chat rules, and just generally revamp the whole system. It's worth a try.

Before anything, Rules wont do ANYTHING. I promise you that.

If people break the rules, ban them. It's that simple.

Chat dedicated mods for ip chat? I've wanted to test this theory actually, but, i'm not sure you can make them mods in the chat without making them mods on the forum. But the community getting better? I seriously doubt that. Still see some users acting the same, and the last thing we need is them in the chat.

It's been said many times from multiple users that they want the chat back. It was a feature that made this forum lively for them, me included. So, if you think about it, there's about that many users who want that feature to stay when it does come back, if it comes back. Over 30 of them. Over 30 users who are more or less going to carry the burden of what happened the first time in the back of their minds when it happens the second time. Do you honestly expect me to believe that these 30 odd people who would more likely be using it the most let the chat they want back to descend into nothingness a second time. I don't think so. I'd think they'd want it to stay, and they will do more work than any Chat Mod would into making it so.

You're just upset that people scapegoated you as one of those individuals that sent it to death, like they scapegoated Hari and CAPU. Which isn't true, but you take it too seriously.

1. Do not talk about Chat.
2. DO NOT talk about Chat.
3. Do not be a dick.
4. Do not be an over sensitive tattle tale (snitches get stitches).
5. If you do have an issue with another user do not make it front page news, Resolve the issues quietly and peacefully.
6. Do not spam.
7. Do not cause flame wars.
8. Do not be Fieryguns
9. Do not be disrespectful to others.
10. Keep it age appropriate.
11. .-. Dont flood the forums with Chat nonsense.... Keep it quiet and it will stay.

With a set list of rules, we can determine whether someone should be banned or not. Rules definitely do a lot for the community, without rules no one would banned and it would become a free-for-all. 

The chat mods could be regular mods but their only job would be to moderate the chat. There wouldn't be any problems with chat mods moderating the forum, because someone with the mod position is trustworthy in the first place.

In regards to the users, CAPU isn't here sexting users in private chat so I think we're good.
