Does anyone know if it's possible to run analog audio through the wii u rca connectors, while using HDMI for video output? My household uses a vintage 2-channel (no HDMI, obviously) audio receiver hooked up to our 50" tv, and I was hoping to use it to amplify and output sound.

I read online somewhere that it is possible, but when I looked into the wii system menu, there was no option to change the sound options.

Thanks!
-Dave.

****edit:
You know what? I'm all set. Seems like the wii can output both types of audio at the same time. Normally, devices will usually ignore the analog setting for digital (in my experiences)

Yup! There was an update not too long ago that allowed this... It's a little confusing to do, but it's pretty simple once you figure it out. Just go to your Wii U's system settings, go over to the TV settings, then tap on "TV Audio-Output Type". Then, if you've got the latest firmware update, there should be a little button in the upper-right corner of the screen that says "Output-Cable Setting". Tap on that, and then just choose "Non-HDMI" or "Both", depending on what you want. Nintendo could certainly make it a little more clear as to how to do this, but whatever. :P Hope this helped! :)

Thanks for that tidbit of info! My settings must be set to output both. I will definitely change it later. Many companies wouldn't even bother updating for this feature, so I gotta give kudos to Nintendo for the update!

I think i'm all finally set for a Mario Kart 8 marathon! I specifically bought this console on day one for this game, so this is a very big deal for me. Not to mention, the audio tracks that they have composed are really outstanding, and definitely a game that deserves to be played with good quality audio equipment!

Yup, no problem! :D Luckily, our TV has a coaxial audio output, so I can hook the Wii U up to the TV with HDMI, and then reroute it to a receiver. It's kinda silly, but I'm glad it works! :D
