What about the first trailer which had what appeared to be a text chat

Me and a frienc had this talk before E3 and seems he was right. I was worried be a online focused game. He suggest will be a single player story with a big online Co-op mode as something seperate or something along the lines of Dragon Quest IX on DS. Online is there so either be a seperate mode or join your friends if you want. The meat of the game will be the story mode I am sure.

I'm confused, are you saying you think it still has onilne elements? like co-op? Cuz the character creation lends itself to that a bit, but idk. I really hope it is a fully co-op able story but can be played completely single player, but you'd think Nintendo would say something about it's online capability if it were happening...

Ok in Dragon Quest IX you play the main story but you can bring friends online to be part of your party instead of characters from the game. So yeah Co-op.

Also in DQIX you can play the entire game without going online as well. So I am betting on something like that. Also was was saying they also may have a optional online mode like The Last Story. That had nothing to do with the story just went online to fight and such. They may have one or the other or both but I can promise you can play offline if wanting to. Nintendo isn't that company and nor is Monolith. They are not MS,EA or Square. So doubt there is anything to worry about.

I was answeing under the context his question was phrased, which was 'has nintendo specifically confirmed, as in outright stated, online co-op.

I believe those early videos are indeed proof of co-op, however, nintendo has not officially come out and stated it, likely to quell fears about no/tacked on single player.

I think there will be a seperate online mode, using only created characters/generic npc's (no story characters, or they serve strictly npc roles in this mode), revolving around events and quests meant for multi.

Ah, ok. I understand that. My main concern was that the Dragon Quest IX style online (or any for that matter ) Wouldn't be in the game. I really hope they have the Dragon Quest IX style to this!! I'd really like to play this sort of gameplay while co-oping with a few friends.

The kind of story in xeno games, even the worst ones like xenosaga are so ridiculously far beyond things like dragon quest its not even funny.

If you truly want to understand what happened in xenoblade for example, you need an understanding of greek philosophy on substance and matter, particularly the unit known as the 'monad', Gottfreid Lebniz's 'Monadology', and computer programming, (once again, in particular the programming concept of the monad).

No one is saying Dragon Quest is trying to have a deep storyline. Was just saying how the online could work similar to how DQIX worked or a different mode altogether.

Yes, I had already responded to this in an earlier post, leaving my speculation, as did you, and he. As such it seemed a pretty finished and closed deal. So that is no longer something I am talking about. I was adressing the new subject in the post that I quoted.

'my main concern was that the Dragon Quest IX style online (or any for that matter ) Wouldn't be in the game. I really hope they have the Dragon Quest IX style to this!!'.

Since the subject of whether the game had a single player story was adressed in your post he was responding too, I was just responding to his musings to have a 'dragon quest IX style story'.

Which is basically impossible as long as Takahashi breathes.

This rabbit hole goes much, much deeper. Just want to make sure people pack enough oxygen tanks for the trip beyond the outer limits.

The shock from going from the straight forward good is good, and the bad is just a misunderstanding, but is really also good deep down once those misunderstandings are cleared up, to OH MY- WAIT WHAT GOD? WEVE BEEN EATING EACH OTHER THIS WHOLE TIME AND OUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE IS A WORTHLESS SHAM!!!! Can be quite severe.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't have multiplayer. Rather curiously, not counting games that don't have their number of players listed, it's the only game on Nintendo's E3 site that has the number of players listed as TBD.

It sounds like they were trying to fight a perception that its some kind of online monster hunter clone. So they focused on the single player mode to do that.

But I agree that this game begs to be online, and I honestly think this game will sell the Wii U. Every time we see it it gets bigger and bigger.

They probably wont make the characters faces look better. Thats the style the character designer decided to use. Its the same style the same artist used for Xenosaga.

On the bright side, Im giving my character a big bushy beard face. Like Charlie.

Or at least the biggest bushiest mustache I can.

I wonder how many Xenoblade fans will recreate Shulk as best they can. Despite my X Shulk avatar I will go more for the dude we saw in last years Trailer walking towards the mech.

They actually explicitely provide the parts to make the shulk shown in your avatar. It was made using the create a character.

Takahashi and his character trolls.

This game could be remembered like XenoGears/XenoBlade C or it could get a mild reception in sales.

In reality this games name would be to long to include all the games it has a little of.

Chrono Cross,Xenogears,XenoSaga,Xenoblade,Phantasy Star(well first XB had some Phantasy Star as well) and this also has Phantasy Star Online to it.

Tho maybe they could have said XenoCross: Star Saga

You can add chrono trigger to that list. Seemed to be the first game Takahashi worked on that had the theme of a false god from another planet that cultivated people only for food/parts.
