I think the other companies are actually trying to run Nintendo into the ground. By doing all of this it really is hurting them. They might be trying to once and for all get rid of them as a whole.

It's plausible, but stupid. Nintendo is still conservative with their money and will be around for a long time even in the unlikely chance that they have to find alternatives. Sony is bankrupting themselves, and the Xbox is a significant drain on Microsoft's resources.

I'm not going to put my money towards a bet, but I expect Sony to eventually be forced to bow out of the console race or neuter the PS5/6/7/whatever to stay solvent. Microsoft I think will be restructuring the Xbox brand so that all's left is a version of Windows 9 that is optimized for controller navigation.

Windows 8.1 is pretty close in terms of interface, just that both Microsoft has to allow Steam games better integration into Metro and programming guidelines need to be updated to support controller navigation. I can actually see this happening easily. Xbox One games can be ported to Windows and back with minimal difficulty, and opening up Xbox so it's just a tweaked version of Windows (like how Windows 8 was designed to work on both touchscreens and desktops - only less drastic this time) could possibly make Steam machines redundant. Microsoft would have to work with Valve to make Steam's big Picture Mode seamless with the rest of the interface though.

Uhh how could you forget Nintendo's biggest competitor?

Calling it now, Ouya will win gen 9.

- Open a "Turn to Digital" promotion. Where you can choose a game, pay like $10, and you get a digital download of it.
- Open a porting department. Nintendo should take porting into their own hands for games they can agree on / put in features the ports didn't origianlly want to.

- But then what if they stopped selling physicals cause everyone turned to digital? that would be so ew.

- Nah. It's not Nintendo's resonsibility to assure the quality of other company's ports. If they make crappy ports they deserve to lose money. Simple as that.

Gearbox was shady with that game. The build at PAX I think it was 2 years   before release and people loved was not the game that came out. They scrapped that build of the game. The game that came out was made in a few months and Gearbox took a lot of that money and put it towards Borderlands 2 and kinda got away with it. They screwed SEGA and anyone who bought Aliens. Come to think of it the PAX build from a few years back was a horror game not to much unlike iso and was good.

I'd stop making dust collector's.. and actually have more games for the adult gamers. Nintendo in my opinion is for the kiddies, although I do like ninja gaiden 3 (the only R rated game I can find at my local games shop) they need to be on par with the other consoles, better graphics, more developers on board.
I'd definitely fix the issue with not being able to change nnid's easily without deleting miis and losing all your games and data.. that craps frustrating.
Oh and another thing, I'd offer free games like the ps and xbox do, instead of crappy demo's.

welcome back to the forums ;)

You would be surprised as to the actual age playing those "R" rated games you love so much and the actual age playing the "E" rated games.

Many 1st party titles for Nintendo have much more replay value compared to other devs/companies who release year after year. There are certainly many things to fix and change but some of your points are pretty off base.

You'll be able to get those free games when Nintendo starts charging a fee for it's online service.. but then those things really won't be "free" .

On another note, with this NX news it's an interesting time to wonder what is actually going on at Nintendo, what you would change, etc.

I want a Cucco gun in Zelda.

But in all seriousness:

1. Try to ensure the long-term access to the chip architecture. We don't want to lose decades of games because a licensing issue forces Nintendo to drop their backwards compatibility and start from scratch.

2. Improve network services. Maybe have multiple tiers where a free one gives us what we have now (including multiplayer) and have one (or two) advanced tires that give use features like cloud game save syncing and voice chat (no matter what you think, I believe this would at least be considered to keep Nintendo's family friendly status.

3. Add games to the Virtual Console faster. It is currently possible to run most Gamecube and n64 games as-is on the Wii U (and some hackers have figured out how to put standard n64 roms inside the emulator package downloaded from the eShop). I'd start a beta program where users can play beta games and report any and all bugs found.

4. Either make Gamecube ports a standard feature or launch a new bluetooth Wavebird that is 100% identical and is supported indefinitely. Maybe give it a USB connection so the extreme gamers are happy

5. I'd like to launch a Nintendo Dynasty game collection. The general idea is that all games in the series are modular, where characters from one game can be played in another while using a map from a third game. You would buy individual games (such as Mario Bros, Kirby, Yoshi, etc) and each new game can be added to the mix and mashed up. Like if you bought a bunch of different lego packs and mixed them together.
