Nintendo

At first, I'll admit, I was pretty underwhelmed by the Nintendo Direct presentation. However, as videos and more media started to come out, I was quite pleased with what they showed. Sure, I was hoping for more surprises, but, overall, Nintendo has a great lineup on the horizon and I'm very excited. X, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8 look absolutely phenomenal. I was really impressed with what I saw from these titles. I even had to pick my jaw up from the floor a couple times. We also have DKC: Tropical Freeze which will undoubtedly be a stellar platformer. Zelda: Wind Waker HD looks great and I can't wait to revisit the game in glorious 1080p! Super Mario 3D World looks like great fun, though I was hoping for something a little more ambitious and thematic like Sunshine or Galaxy. Regardless, I have no doubt it'll be great! Wii U has some capable hardware under the hood and I'm excited for its future. On the 3DS front, I didn't really focus too much on the titles as I was really focused on Wii U, but I will definitely be picking up Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Yoshi's New Island as well. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team looks like a lot of fun too. If there's anything that really disappointed me, it's the fact that we didn't get any news about NN accounts no longer tying digital content to the hardware. I'm still hopeful they'll turn this around in the future.

Overall: 8.5 / 10

Sony

Not gonna lie. I still haven't watched their conference in its entirety. I plan to do so this weekend, but, from what I've seen, Sony is hitting all the right notes with the PS4. The hardware is very impressive, the DualShock 4 looks like a great improvement over DS3, the few titles I've seen look phenomenal and, most importantly, they're not pulling any BS moves like Microsoft in regards to software ownership, always-online and requiring a camera to be mandatory when in use. The PS4, at the moment, looks like it could very well be the PS2 of this new generation. I'm very impressed and super excited. I wish Sony great success! Only negative? I guess the fact that multiplayer will now be behind a paywall on PSN+. However, having researched PSN+ and all the benefits that come with the service, it's really hard to argue against it. And the annual price isn't bad at all.

Overall: 9.5 / 10

Microsoft

Such a shame. I knew, going into E3, all the negatives surrounding Xbox One. I actually did watch the conference and it was depressing. They actually have some impressive titles coming to the system. However, I cannot justify all of the negative aspects that come with the console. Always-online requirement, mandatory check-in every 24 hours, Kinect required, software pretty much attached to the hardware, used games, etc.. etc… It's just a giant clusterf***, IMO. Sorry, Microsoft. I loved what you gave us with Xbox and the 360, but I cannot bring myself to buy this disaster.

Overall: 3 / 10
