Personally, i think the current Wii is outdated, and needs improvement fast. The others have move and kinect so they're pretty much sorted for a while.

Don't double-post, use the edit button instead. ;-)

Actually, I don't have any idea about this. You say the Wii is outdated? Well yes, Playstation got Move, and Microsoft got Kinect, but it seems like everyone forgets one 'console upgrade'. That 'upgrade' is called WiiMotionPlus. Everyone forgets about it because it was much earlier, and it wasn't promoted that much. (Seriously, there may be people who don't know about WiiMotionPlus, but almost everyone knows Move and Kinect now) I think all three companies are working on the next generation of the console wars, maybe a newcomer, Apple, maybe? Who knows?

I'm under the belief that Nintendo will strike first, and in doing so round up all the 3rd party support. If they can do the same thing they're doing with the 3DS, they've got the next gen in the bag.

And as for outdated... No, they're not. It's just that they're no longer the only company who ISN'T outdated. Though I do believe that the Wii is in its last stretch, for reasons like the fact that Nintendo hasn't released anything they need to commit to for awhile (Unlike Move and Kinect), and the only big game we now about, and probably what they're hoping will push sales over what they want, is Zelda (Though more could be coming.) and that I really really want a system that 3rd parties won't shun (Last point is pointless, I know)

If you mean the graphics are outdated... Then sure, why not. Not that that really makes a difference. I was playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle a few weeks ago, and when I realized it was Gamecube... I said to myself "What's wrong with these graphics? They're the funnest I've seen in a while :P"

I don't see how you know Nintendo comes last this time. (Or I didn't read the 1st post. *Phasr'd*)

But I think the Gamecube came 1st (out of the Xbox and PS2), and the Wii came 2nd (out of the Xbox 360 and PS3)

I think nintendo will be first to make a new console, not last, as wii is getting outdated and the others wouldnt ditch their new control methods so early.

I remember somewhere that CEO Hirai said that they wanted the PS3 to have a ten year cycle which would make it end in 2016 since the PS3 came out in 2006. However, I don't know if that means the PS4 will take that long or if that's just how long they will keep the support for it, for example games are still being made for PS2 now.

According to this link http://www.xbox720ch... ... -xbox-720/ Microsoft want to be out first again, I'm thinking 2012 for both Wii and XBOX and later for PS3.

If Nintendo and Microsoft come out first it might put pressure on Sony to bring out there next gen and drop that ten year thing.

Sony and Microsoft are trying to delay another console as long as possible with those motion things and bringing out the Slim versions.

With the 10 year thing he means 10 years of producing.

Epic Kirby, I doubt that's gonna happen. Microsoft said that they were treating Kinect as the launch of an entirely new platform, so to bring out a new Xbox in 2012 would make a lot of people really angry. They'll probably put out a few more revisions/versions of the 360, but I don't think they're quite ready to replace it yet.

Of course, if we see Kinect fail in the marketplace, that might change.

I'm pretty sure this is the way it'll go.
Nintendo first. Nintendo's new console (Wii 2) will probably be hardcore unlike the Wii, meaning it's a risk (Nintendo now has a ton of casual fans) so launching it first will get some vital sales. And plus, the Wii is practically dead, only a few good titles left to get.
Microsoft second.
Sony third because Sony has already stated that the PS3 will last 10 years on the shelf, meaning we should expect the PS4 in 2016?

Makes perfect sense, Mark. Nintendo is currently the one that's "behind" in the console gaming race, in my opinion, so they'll most likely be the first to get an eight-gen system out the door.

Microsoft and Sony are actually both quite proud of their current consoles, so I wouldn't expect anything new from either of them until at least 2013-2014.

Nintendo will go first. The Wii doesn't have enough steam left in it to last until 2015 (when MS/Sony want to release their next consoles), unless there's some kind of expansion, wether it be like Kinect or like the oft-rumoured Wii HD.

With the new console being announced on Tuesday, it's almost certain that it will be first. The Wii has the weakest hardware of the three (Not necessarily a bad thing) and has all but lost heat from 2010 and earlier years (Expected, but would be really terrible for Nintendo gamers if a new console wasn't on the horizon). Plus I'm sure the Xbox 360 and PS3 can keep going for a few more years.
