Wii 2 Launch 2012 or 2014?

I know that we don't have any choice in the matter, we have to wait until Nintendo is ready.

I was thinking maybe 2013, after that I would probably start thinking, hmm, come on Nintendo. It's true that the Wii has a lot left in it and there's still potential for it but it can only go on for so long.

But 13 is unlucky apparently so then it would have to be 2014 but that seems like a really long wait. I'm getting the vibe from the blog posts and what I've googled that Nintendo are in no hurry to announce the Wii, this makes me believe we're in for a long wait.

What do you guys think?

I say 2012 because:
. So far, the 2011 Wii line up looks lackluster. We may get certain games localised though and there's SS. Who knows what else may be announced. This year will be Wii's last big year.
Then next year we will probably have a drought as hype for the next console starts building.

. Nintendo can't keep the Wii going for 2-3 more years by themselves. They've been keeping it alive with exclusives and minimal 3rd party games worth mentioning. We're not going to get another Metroid or SMG and Zelda is coming out this year. We MAY get Pikmin (although Miyamoto said it's a game that would benefit from HD). StarFox and F Zero aren't big sellers, so they may want to keep them as launch games for wii 2 to get good sales from them, not to mention those 2 games could benefit from a strong online.

. The tech is old. Really old. Alot of people don't care about graphics when it comes to the Wii but Nintendo still needs to upgrade to satisfy their core fans. The wii isn't as future proof as PS3 and 360, especially with very limited 3rd party support.

. By the end of 2012, wii would have sold the 45 mil in America. Sure, no one takes Reggie seriously, but it's still a factor. :|

. Alot of people aren't expecting MS or Sony to launch in 2012, but who says they won't?
MS - Would probably want to launch before Sony again, it gave them an adavantage this gen. Sure, they spent alot on Kinect, but it'll probably be compatible with '720' and they'll keep the 360 alive with Kinect releases for 'casuals'.
Sony - Will not want MS to launch before them again. They just started making profit off the PS3 not too long ago, but they can they keep it running alongside the PS4 for a few years (hence the 10 year life cycle).

I may be wrong in all this in which case the latest I would expect PS4 and 720 is 2013/2014.
I expect a vague announcement of Wii 2 at E3 this year.
Many people say the casual customers Nintendo gained will not move on to Wii 2, but they will if Nintendo markets it right. These are the same people that buy phones, ipods, etc yearly.

I'm thinking it'll be 2012. Companies don't like to wait before releasing revolutionary things. Knowing how eagerly gamers have been waiting for it so far, I'd say it's in Nintendo's best interest to release the Wii 2 as soon as possible.

Research has shown that the release of Wii 2 could be what causes the end of the world. It will be so awesome that gamers will go on a worldwide rampage on the day of its release, destroying everything in their path and causing the apocalyptic end of the world as we know it.

The only people left standing will be Nintendo's people. They will be shut in a safe haven, laughing maniacally as they count money and shout 'It prints money and destroys the earth!'

If they wonna keep the pace then they have to get a new console in 2012.

But i don't expect Nintendo to get some info out this year because this year is the 3DS year. Everything will be surrounding the 3DS.

CES 2012 Info for the Wii2 and Christmas 2012 we will have the machine under the christmas tree.

That's probably true, Christmas 2012 but I wouldn't expect it any earlier because the 3DS would have only been out for a year.

I agree with the consensus that the Wii's successor will launch in 2012. There's really just one big reason for that: 2011 is the year of the 3DS, and Nintendo always releases their next-gen console right as the hype about their handheld starts to wear off. By 2012, the 3DS will be a fairly common consumer electronic device, and most people will probably have forgotten about the Wii by then, after they've beaten Skyward Sword. I expect a Wii 2 launch will then come about sometime around mid-2012, probably closer to fall, as it would then be a blazing-hot Christmas gift.

Nah, Im kidding, but Nintendo's Shigureu Myamoto is known for having game delays. Just look at brawl! (Dec. 2007 - Mar. 2008)

My prediction is that the console will come in mid 2012 or early 2013.

yeah, the 3ds will not have been out long, and i'm just hoping that it does come later, so have time to fully enjoy my 3ds before moving on to the SWCES64.

I was thinking late 2012. Think about it, the 3d is coming out in 2011. So,wii is probably losing them Money, and not everyone is going to want the 3ds. I think they will make a new system soon after that.

I think Nintendo will be focusing on the 3DS for 2011, but I think they might announce Wii 2 in 2012. I certainly hope so, as I don't know if I can wait until 2014 for the Wii's successor.

I'd say maybe late 2012 to mid 2013 but hopefully a bit earlier
