So I have been talking about this for the last few years... and people have been telling me to shut my face as if I didn't know a lick of what I was talking about, and well here it is, the truth and the beginning to the end of gamestop.

Even though this article is 2 weeks old.

Maybe if there games didn't have a 50% mark up compared to online retailers then things wouldn't be so bad. I can understand it costing a bit more to sell in a retail store but some games I have had delivered to my door on launch day for pretty much half the price as in store.

It would help if their trade-in rates weren't insultingly bad.

I thought it was odd that a store with a status like Gamestop's would have such a large foreclosure with not so much as a peep of reporting from any site other than the one you posted (any other site I found sourced back to this or gamercheese). I know GME stated about a possible 200 store cut down for 2013 back in November. Yahoo! predicted 500-600 stores would be closed. Is there a legitimate source?

I hate most of their employees, I hate their store policies, I hate their customer service... That being said, they are actually the cheapest game store around me (and of course, it's so commonly found). It would be a shame to see it die out (if/when it does) without another company to fill that spot.

Good riddance. I support my local game stores, this will only help them. In areas without any local stores this can bring in new much needed competition.

From what I keep hearing from my fellow Americans GameStop is terrible, so this can only be a good thing for local game stores and gamers alike, thank God GameStop never penetrated the UK market

Idk about all this. The one I go to know there stuff and are up on there job. They play the games and knw the games.
Now some of the other gamestops my suck big time so that could be a big cause of it to.
And they are high on there used games. That's why I never trade them in.
But we will see what happens to GameStop in the future. Because walmart, target and bestbuy suck IMO for getting games. Always behind some case and gotta track someone down. Then they never know when a game is suppose to come out.

Gamestop has awful trade-in deals and shove their powerup reward cards down your throat.

Good riddance. With technology slowly becoming more digital, more people will turn to Amazon or Newegg, which provide better deals.

Which is probably why they are working on their own digital distribution service...

I also did some searching and found this article in which was posted on feb 13th of last week.

http://mynintendonews.com/2013/02/13/gamestop-prepares-for-250-store-closures-in-2013-opening-60-70-new-stores/

It says that
GameStop Prepares For 250 Store Closures In 2013, Opening 60-70 New Stores.

But we shall see what happens with this story tho.

Which won't be a profit and still manage to come off as greedy.

I'm not that surprised. They always product push.

"Hey, want this offer"

I hear that more than

"Okay, here's your game (- $50)"

Im actually very happy to hear they are shutting down stores. The last time (and will remain the last time) i went into a Gamestop, I went on a last minute whim with the interest in getting a dsiXL bc i just wanted something different game wise. I went in, wanted to ask a few questions about the system to make sure it would/could do the things i would like to do with it. Well this employee was such a lazy jerk, gave me the most half butt answers, was completely uninterested in helping me (i was the only person in the whole store), and basically said i should have went online and read about what i wanted to know, not to mention he owns one and could of easily helped me out. Anyways, lost a sale on a console, i left, wont ever go again. Its not just that one experience either, its been a long road of that company getting worse and worse, that last time was just the icing on the cake. Target and best buy for me from now on. Hope Gamestop ultimately goes out of business in the end and independent and local shops take over like the good old days.
