Very cool.
The PC emulates the Wii-U pad, it can also receive video from Wii-U console like the gamepad.
This guy uses a XBOX360 controller connected to his pc to control the Wii-U.

Good, now can I have it in reverse please?
I want to play my pc games on my upad.
Oh, nevermind. He's just screen capturing and playing with the upad behind the camera.

Unless he has a third arm, I don't think he would be able to play the pad behind the camera, considering he's holding said camera.
That being said, I'd very much like to believe this is legit.

Sounds like he was rustling to put his camera on a tripod to me.

That's a rather shaky tripod he has throughout the video.

His lap must be pretty good at turning and zooming the camera.

I think this is real. I believe the Wii U uses DLNA over WiFI in order to stream the video, so it's just a matter of reverse-engineering the handshake and control mapping.
I think this will be awesome because now they can record what's going on with the gamepad, but there will be lag (and the need for two wifi cards, one to talk to the Wii U and one to talk to the gamepad)

It doesn't use DLNA over wifi, if only it were that simple. Nintendo worked with Broadcom to create a new standard based on bluetooth, and it's completely proprietary. They spent months trying to get the display working without tearing and artifacting, and get the controls and video completely lag free. This info was in the Iwata asks as well as a couple of other sources on the Broadcom information.
BTW, if it were DLNA over wifi, there wouldn't be any range issues, and it would have to display the DLNA logo on the packaging.

Didn't the teardown prove it had two WiFi chips?
And do you really think nintendo had the time and money to invent a completely new internet streaming standard when they could rip off of an existing one just enough that they didn't have to pay royalties? Like how the game disks are kinda-sorta bluray disks?

He was very very vague with this, only clicking 1 button at a time and showed about 1 minute of footage... so your meaning to tell me a guy who managed to emulate the Wii U, can't hold the camera on a tripod, keep it still or even show more footage then just that? He could have easily just put the camera on a tripod and played a few games, he clicked up down, left right and thats pretty much it, never mind the fact that the nintendo lands camera was showing from a birds eye view, how do you get a birds eye view on nintendo land? ooh ya, by having the gamepad sat down, maybe on the table behind him?
Well, I've finally found my Starfox, and I love it.

he emulated the gamepad. not the wiiU itself, that will be the hard part because you have to emulate a customized hardware far from standered. but the gamepad, all you really should need is button inputs, something to use as the touchpad(mouse), and something to send/recieve signals, all of that is not hard compared to true emulation. but this one is good for playing on PC,
