Got a shiny new black Wii U today, External hard disk wont stop blinking

Solved the issue!

The drive is a 500 gig usb 3.0 powered Seagate black drive with a very odd connector, so I had no way to connect a Y cable to it, However by connecting the drive to a powered usb hub and then connecting the hub to the wii u's back via a Y cable I circumvented the problem :3 drive now gets enough power to work properly ^^

the light will keep blinking because its always being accessed, i have a WD 3.0 HD & it does the same.

You need more power.
Amazon have the y cable for those drives, it's not a weird connection, it's the new USB3 standard.
