Imagine this (as I can't photoshop):

 

Take the innards of the Wii U (and it's PSU) and stick it into a cube designed to look like the cube block. It would be elevated 2cm by hidden feet to make it look like it's floating, and yellow LEDs on the back and bottom will shine on the counter and wall to give it ambience. The top-loading disk tray will be designed t look like a coin (with the disk accessible from the rear of the tray), possibly with the coin sound effect when it's ejected.

 

Wireless sensor bar

128GB storage

only 1,000 get made, they will be distributed by a combination of auctioning, lottery, and competitions to prove your worthiness.

 

Thoughts? Would it be awesome or too gimmicky?

I think it seems too elaborate for Nintendo to bother with. They go for more simple Special Edition things. It's a cool idea though.

Not always the case Tsu...need I bring this up...... Its the Panasonic Q Gamecube for those who never seen it and it still evades my hardware collection.

Thanks for posting this, first time I seen or even heard of this. I want one now, but I'll bet it's damn near impossible to find. This is a pretty busy console though. It's got a lot going on from what I read.

NP - easy to find on ebay, but damn pricey. Looking around $300-500 and then if you want the matching gameboy player another $400-600 for that

500 was what I was thinking actually. Not too bad if you mean 500 brand new.

I was thinking a polished gold finish. There will only be 1,000, so it doesn't have to be cheap.

Even if it's only 1000 that would still be a lot of money for it to have real gold on it. And from the way you described how they would be giving these out a lot of them would be free.

I don't know about real gold, but I think it'd be best if they use something more extravagant then cheap plastic.

 

And I'm pretty sure that the ones they auction would make up the difference.
