I work at company that makes clothing for sports such as softball baseball football etc. Well im a graphic designer there and make the logos and such. The way I work goes a long in this such way. The sales reps give us emails that have directions to mock up a certain thing. And when we are done with that email we have to wait for another. On slow days we can sometimes wait up to an hour for another job. So what do I? browse the internet. This seemed more truthful than acting like im working.

Well my boss was on my computer and saw my history of Amazon.com and ESPN and things like that. He comes up to me and says If i ever see that again you can just leave and never come back. Keep in mind I have been working here for over a year and he says this while im working.

What should I do? I'm somewhat angry and at the same time upset. I don't know if I should apologize or just let it blow over. He is a very busy person so there is not much time at all to approach him.

Really don't want to lose this job need all the help i can get.

This is the story of how I almost got fired.

Well that would be even worse if you get caught. Given the circumstances of your work it would be understandable that you would want something to do at times. At best I'd recommend you talk to your supervisor explaining that sometimes you have to wait up to a whole hour for a job to come in, and ask him if there's anything you can do during those times. You could also email him instead, but I don't know how long it would take for him to reply.

Maybe you can spend that time researching ideas for logos or experimenting with new techniques?

You'll have to ask him if what's most important to him. You, completing all tasks within the given timeframe and doing that in a professional matter, within your own responsibility, including surfing for inspiration, trends, etc. Or you, completing jobs only when asked, sitting there, start feeling demotivated and rusty in the proces, not in sync with the rest of the graphic/sports world.

Taking your own responsibily and getting judged in what you deliver is, in my view, much more qualitive and motivating than only sitting there between jobs and have no real respondibilty.

Adk him to leave you alone, and judge you by the quality and amount of work you deliver, not by what you do in between jobs.

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

Are you roleplaying this?

if so, I suggest bringing lighter fluid the next time your boss approaches.
Threaten to multikill him, and the entire office/factory.

Deleting the history doesn't work, if the computers connected to a server then he can choose to see exactly what your doing at all times.

I guess if you really can't do anyting for hours then you could just play with your phone for the time being while having the E-mail up on the computer.

His birthdays on August 14th, maybe you got confused with that.

Go onto one of your co-workers computers and google the weirdest porn imaginable...then when they get busted with all that weird rainbow on their search history you wont look hardly as bad for just being on Amazon and ESPN. Your boss will be so proud of you for not fapping on the job that you may even receive a promotion!
