Hi, I have a Wii U and a Wii.  I moved my old Wii into a work out room to run netflix and keep my wii fit balance board in there.  I want to transfer my virtual console games and most of my save files to the new Wii U, but concerned about the "all or none" transfer to the wii u.  I have ~5 years of saved data/weights, etc on my Wii fit game that would love to keep on that wii (as well as other more active games, Just dance, etc).  I hear you can copy saved data to a separate SD card before the transfer but hear some games it does not work (Brawl, mario Kart 7).  Has anyone successfully kept Wii fit or other games on an old wii??

Thanks

Yes, I have done this. You need to install Homebrew on your Wii and a program to let you back up your save files. (For the games where you can't just back it up to the SD card normally, that is.)

I don't think that Wii Fit connected online, so you should be able to back up your data to an SD card. Just Dance could be problematic, because I believe that can connect online to buy songs. I'm not to familiar with either game, but if it connects online, you can't save it to an SD card.

Any game that links to the console's Friend Code for online cannot be copied to an SD card without homebrew. Games that can connect online will have a blue or red online logo

The box for Wii Fit Plus does not have a WFC logo, so it should transfer to a sd card without difficulty.

I think that they erase the data from the Wii in order to prevent cheating or any duplication of friend codes.  I've done the system transfer myself; I know how you feel.  I want to keep my Wii, but I didn't want to transfer everything over, either.
