I'm loving my system, and so far so good! But I encountered one issue. My surround sound isn't working properly. I first noticed the problem when in ZombiU there was no dialogue, but there were subtitles? So I checked my settings, it WAS set to surround. I clicked the test, out of the like 5 chimes, 2 didn't play. What? Why? I've tried EVERY single combination of sound settings on my tv that I could adjust. No dice. My WiiU is plugged through HDMI to my tv, then my tv outputs a stereo connection to my surround sound system. And it works perfect when the WiiU is set to stereo, so what gives?!

I'm having the same problem. I am able to get the chimes across all 5 of my speakers when putting the system into "surround" mode, but in games I don't have surround sound. Unless the main menu, NSMB U, and Nintendo Land don't support 5.1 surround (i highly doubt that), then I must be doing something wrong.

Yes guys! I am sooo glad I found people who are experiencing the same issues because I thought it was something I did wrong. In the system settings, I can get 5 chimes when I sample stereo, but just as you guys are saying, 2 chimes are missing when I sample Surround.

I kept the same setup I have for the Wii U and hooked up my PS3 and Surround sound was alive and well with the PS3. (I have one HDMI cable from game system to Surround receiver's HDMI Input, and another HDMI cable from Surround receiver's Output to my HDTV's Input.)

This obviously means there is some sort of error in the Wii U. Please guys, let's see if we can get this message out to NIntendo so this can be fixed immediately!
