Do you think I should play AC1, AC2, AC:REV and AC:BRO before playing 3? Not sure if the story is effected.

You can skip AC1. Storywise AC3 is it's own story.

Nah! This is a new chapter with new characters. So no need to play the others unless you really want to.

i loved AC1 & the storyline leading into AC2. i finished both those games, i got halfway through AC-Rev and just got fed up of the same old gameplay. i didn't finish that game and didn't bother with AC-Bro because of this with missing out on the story etc.
the story is the best thing about AC.

..i might get AC3 now i've had a few years off & seeing as it's it's own story, i though it was just carrying on?..kind of.
it does look really good. if you've never played AC before...AC3 would prob be quite epic..

Slight spoilerish You don't need to play the others it may help you under stand what's going on at the present but the game wich is the meat and potatoes is in the past and the past is gooood. Also the rope dart is awesome. The only thing I thought was off is the ending is we'll you'll see.

You should totally go for it. I also had my doubts about skipping the first 2 games, but it turns out they actually explain most of the story before you start the game, so you'll be fine.
