I remember trying to play Super Smash Bros Brawl online when it had just released, the lag was unbearable.

I've seen news of Nintendo claiming they had released a patch to fix the issue.
I've also tried my own share of fixes, but nothing ever worked.

So did they ever fix it? or is there no chance of having a proper online Brawl untill the Wii U release?

Nope. They didn't fix it. We have to wait for Smash 4, which is almost guaranteed to have great online.

I seriously doubt we will get a patch. I don't even think it is possible to patch Wii games, anyway.

What a shame...

Oh well, the next game will definitely be worth it.

Yeah, I tired to get it working recently, and it just doesn't work... Too bad. Oh well, that makes my hype for SSB4 even greater.

I don't know why everyone says SSBB online is laggy. I play online everyday and it always works great for me. I will rarely get a group with lag and if I do it's usually a person with a bad connection.

Yes the Wii did have the ability to patch, however this was used to help fix game breaking bugs.

An example of this is The Conduit 2 which had bugs that made it impossible to pass the first level.

I've always had lag with brawl, but NEVER with mario kart, or my other ps3 games for that matter unless someone had a horrible connection.

However, everytime i would go online in brawl, it was always stupid people picking hyrule temple, going to the 4 corners and taunting....

This is what concerns me, why does it work properlh only for a few people?

I don't know. But with Nitnendo's improved online we shouldn't have to worry about this in the next Smash Bros.
