Marth is what we call undecided. In fire emblem awaking its a girl, but is some of the other stuff its said to be a boy. So its all mix up. I believe its a "Predestination" (watch the movie and your understand )

ok so did some digging and marth was suppose to be a girl but they change it at last minute to try to get more sell by having a male as the main characters.
