My only problem with the ign one was they talked like there was little new content over tri (which is a lie.  see http://www.capcom-un...nter-3-ultimate for details)  Other than that it was good with a respectable score.

I have a question I hope you guys can help me with.

I do love digital downloads, do it all the time on Mac, iOS and Xbox but Nintendo is holding me off with their non account bound ownerships. As I found out it is tied to consoles. I read some news about when your WiiU dies you will bevable to tranfer your stuff to a new one with Nintendo's helpdesk.

that said. If I buy Monsterhunter I want to invest a lot of time in that title, especially since it will feature offtv mode. Which gives me a potential 1 hour a day between diner and the start of some films while my wife watches some boring girly stuff on tv.

The kids play during daytime which means a lot of disc swopping, not only for the kids but also by myself. They are not that carefull with the discs and I wonder if a digital download for MH would be wise in this case or that I should opt for disc nonetheless. What would you do?

In that case i would go digital, The last thing you want is your kids ruining the disc.

if you like the game you could easily end up with 4-500 hours in so might be a good idea, just make sure you have enough space or you might need a hdd.

I'd say digital is the best bet for you. The disc getting scratched is probably a bigger risk than your wii u breaking AND Nintendo being unable to fix it or transfer the games across. Also there is a chance that Nintendo could make the downloads be tied to the account in the future.

Thanks! How large do you think a full download will be?

I dont know what the IIRC stands for but thanks. I just tried finding it via google and you are spot on. Here is the proof for those who want:
http://www.capcom-un...game-file-sizes

I think 6 gb is doable for me.

IIRC = If I remember correctly.

Nice to see this game getting so many positive reviews, won't have a Wii U for a while, but if I buy one before Monster Hunter 4 is on the horizon I'll probably pick this one up.

Just to give you a little insight on the person who reviewed MHTU for IGN, this is the very same person who gave Xenoblade and The Last Story a lower score because the graphics "were subpar compared to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360." Don't expect leaps and bounds in actual logic.

Why are these review scores all so high?

Have they finally learned how to play monster hunter?

...... A wee bit o praise

Eurogamers 'gotten' mh for a while now.

At least from a review standpoint the series seems to be hitting its stride in the west.

I hate to break it to you but the graphics of The Last Story and Xenoblade are sub par compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. The games may be great and show quality in other areas but that doesn't mean graphics shouldn't be taken into consideration. Logic has no bearing on it. A review is for all intense and purposes a personal opinion.

so wii U now got some amazing (rated) games... Monster hunter 3 U (1st), Lego city (2nd) and SMBU (3rd)...  And its to early in consoles lifespan, to have 3 top titles... And 2 of them are 3rd party...

Yes, but it isn't fair to the game. You can't complain that a game isn't as graphically advanced for systems it wasn't even made for. It's like giving an NES game a lower score because N64 games look better. It's not a fair comparison in the slightest.

Of course, you are correct about it being personal opinion, but it doesn't make the statement any less illogical/fanboyish/stupid.

I disagree. Commenting on the graphics and basing the final review score taking them into consideration along with things like story, game design, presentation etc is still valid irrespective of what console it's for and what the capabilities of that console are. You may disagree with the opinion but that doesn't make it illogical or any less valid.
