PS4 looks more like a PS3.2 than a low-end PC imo

Ps4 won't have "better" textures.

That's simply not true.

It will have the capability Of displaying more textures in one scene before loading.

But that's not a guarantee, since ps4 would then have to process those extra textures.

With 8 cores of CPU to work with, bit will be somewhat more powerful than wii u to handle it. But I doubt 6 gb worth.

And the gpu is the wildcard.

Sony seems to have stayed closer to reference, whereas nintendo has created Frankenstein.

So we don't even know IF the ps4 has better drawing capabilities, much less how much better.

I imagine the ps4 does have a slightly more capable gpu if amds new sky gpu announcement is anything to go by.

But again, the margins in which ps4 comes out ahead are barely noticeable if at all in terms of looking at a game built to take advantage of both systems.

But the wii u does have the game pad which quite easily translates into superior gameplay options.

If you have the same game on both, the graphics will look the same or similar. So the better platform would be wii u as you'd get better gameplay options.

People could say this about the Wii U, so I'm not going to say anything nasty.

What I fear that even if the power difference isn't huge, it's still there, and most developers will just don't even bother TRYING with the Wii U. "it's not teh hardcorez console, haz only 1gb ram for gaymz,," even though the GPU should be really capable.

Well, Nintendo is really opening up to indies, they just removed all content restrictions to getting approved, and are giving unity 4 away for free....

And it supports quite a bit of dx11 functionality out the gate with the free beta.

I dont see big publishers supporting it because any risk is potential death for them.

Literally any expendature that doesnt pay off in spades can literally end even the biggest publisher right now with the current AAA epic only business model, and they are in full blown survival mode.

Once the incumbents fall or adapt, things should be a lot more interesting.

Sorry, it's just what I think will happen. Hardware won't be much of a problem if you know how to use it, but most devs won't bother learning how to use it because they don't see enough profit in it or something.. or they just hate Nintendo but need an excuse.

Well let's look at the bright side at least we have the support of eastern third-party devs :D

Which is why EA wanted so badly to tie origin into Nintendo Network.  It would have been their primary platform if that were the case, and would have presented less of a risk to them.  If Nintendo had agreed, it would have essentially been the EA Wii U, and EA would have been able to force other publishers to go through their digital publishing channels to publish anything on the eShop and that would have made them tons of money without any development costs.  EA is butthurt because they are afraid, and Nintendo would have been their golden ticket had they gone along with it.

The bright side is that there are some huge first party games coming as always.. can't wait for a new Mario, and even a Zelda HD remake is freaking cool.
