I think it`s a great move by Nintendo and a move that even if copied, will benefit Wii U the most because of the Wii U Gamepad.

I just hope that Nintendo makes an investment in advertising this type of games and it`s characteristics.

I just fear being over-runned with crappy IOS games

I call bs. Time will tell but I didn't see Nintendo trying to build with 3rd party companies. Ps4 architect as gone on record saying they knew Ps3 was a disaster as far as developing for. They went to every MAJOR DEVELOPER IN "2007" and asked what they needed froma console for next gen. I doubt Nintendo took such action. Everyone claims they have all this money in the bank yet they won't use it. They could have put at least 3GB of ram in their and that right their ensure Wii U is future proof. I'm just very disappointed with Nintendo right now. More than anything is their lack of doing anything. They seem to be just sitting on their hands waiting for a change to happen. Simple if they were as proactive with bigger 3rd party devs as what we just seen at GDC13 Wii U would be in a different position.

And I call BS on that. Nintendo does realize they need third parties but i's companies like EA that choose to be stubborn. Nintendo could improve a bit but the ones that need to improve the most are companies like EA,Capcom,Squeenix,ETC.

UE4 is available to anyone who wants to license it, though they would have to port it to Wii U themselves.  Unity is going to be a huge push for Nintendo.

A couple of Unity games were up and running on the Wii U at GDC 2013. It's going to be very simple and cheap to port existing UNITY games on the system with the way Nintendo set it up (paying for the license etc).  Hopefully when this goes in full effect sometime in May (hmm..very close to E3) we could see some great games coming from independent 3rd party developers.

in case it hasnt crossed anybodies mind yet....

Expect less than official versions of minecraft to hit all over this.

Wonder how mojang will handle this.

Forgot about that..Prepare for a flood of $9.99 Minecraft ripoffs.

It begins, it looks like the UNITY partnership is paying dividends for Nintendo. Two potentially great games using UNITY might be coming to the Wii U: http://nintendoenthu...f-icarus-wii-u/
