Wii U is not doomed. Grow up. it has sold more in it's first 4 months than the PS3 and Xbox360, and it's sales rose in the UK by 125%.

Not to mention heaps of games are coming out the second half of this year.

Seriously. Stop.

Silence, you are not allowed to be positive about the Wii U on these forums! It's doomed, because a few crybabies say so!

I feel the Wii U is more like the Gamecube rather then the Wii. Wii was more casual but the Gamecube seemed more to be what people wanted from the Wii and from what I can tell the Wii U is more of the Cube's successor and not the Wii U even if it is called Wii U. sorry if that makes no sense. I just  get more Gamecube vibes playing Wii U and less Wii ones. Also from what I heard the cube did not sell all that well but it did not "doom" Nintnedo at all. I mean they are still here lol :)

Wii vs gamecube is a difficult subject really. The gamecube was had much greater multi-format support and was a technical tour de force for its day. I would have to say one of the greatest things about the wii is is gamecube compatibility. I've actually used my wii more for gamecube games than wii games. Zelda windwaker was utterly amazing. Considering how poorly the gamecube sold it was clearly a fantastic opportunity for wii owners who may have never experienced gamecube games to actually play those games.

The trouble with the wii is many of the top developers had already moved away from the wii to develop for the 360 and PS3 and therefore the wii seemed to get the top nintendo games, a handful of good third party games but mainly a large amount of casual games. The gamecube got a huge range of fully optimised games from top developers even though it wasn't a commercial success like wii. Typically when a call of duty or medal of honor game was developed for xbox and ps2 the gamecube would get a version too of the same game where as with the wii it got far less conversions and because of the power difference they were often cut down versions missing important features.

The Gamecube was a truly terrific console with amazing software support and the last Nintendo home console that competed technically with its competitors. One of the greatest things about it was its fantastic loading speed. It almost seemed like it used cartridges. It would load games so quickly.

It is not Nintys fault. 3rd parties are being ignorant.

Yeah, sure. It's everyone's fault, except for flawless and glorious Nintendo.

And just because so far not a single game has pushed Wii U`s power, it is, therefore, old gen.

That means absolutely nothing....at all. That's it I'm done until E3, see you guys then.

It's not like Nintendo hasn't tried to get the third-party support they promised, Nintendo can't just snap their fingers and make it happen. The problem is that developers aren't seeing money to be made based on the third party support we saw in the Wii. Sure Nintendo could have just sorted out this origin business with EA and maybe could have seen a WiiU port of BF4 in the works but the thing is it will take time before Nintendo can give developers enough faith to start developing their games for the system.

You can both play and count good games for a system which you do not own.

well if you wanna get technical about it there's 14 wii games at or above a 90 metacritic score and 26 gamecube games at or above 90

i'm not saying you're wrong or that reviews are perfect cause whether you like a console is up to the individual

I remember reading something from a 3rd party developer stating that it wasn't that the Gamecube wasn't appealing since it had good graphics, but the storage medium was tiny (the mini discs the Gamecube was known for), hence why it never got games like GTA for example. Sad really, since it is the only time in recent memory that Nintendo competed, spec wise, with other companies. Mind you, It was never Nintendo's intent back then, but its spec sheet was much closer than the Wii was.

Too early to tell for Wii U though.

See, lack of 3'rd party support can be justified on behalf of Nintendo. Same goes for 3'rd parties.

Somebody blames Nintendo, even more people blame 3'rd parties and publishers. I think the truth is, as usual. somewhere in between.

While i completely agree with you it's still too early to decided whether or not we ever will see a descent line third party titles make their way to the WiiU.

I do hope that Nintendo is saving something for E3 because the Nintendo Direct well is beginning to run dry.
