I was just wondering this. I heard it was 1080p HD, and I was just asking because I like to keep all my consoles in my room. :)

I think it will most likely look terrible on an SD TV compared to a HD TV, since that happens with the two other HD consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3).

It should look fine, depending on the size of your TV. Details won't be as crisp and sharp as an HDTV, as the resolution will be roughly 1/11th of 1080p, but it'll be playable. Though I should add that how playable games are would come down to how much they rely on HD - if a game is all about seeing and responding to tiny little graphical details...well, you might have some trouble recognizing them. :)

From the official specs sheet:

Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite.

I don't think they should. My sister's TV is over ten years old and Xbox 360 games still look pretty good on it. Obviously they would look much sharper on a HD TV though.

Don't forget that you could always play the games on your controller :)

Assuming that the game is able to do that. It's not a necessary function of the system, as Nintendo isn't placing minimums on games.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

True, though I'm sure most of the PS360 ports will support it.

My TV is very old, and when I play my Xbox 360 games on there, it still looks sharp. I'm sure the Wii U will still look good on a SD TV.

It will be just as clear as a Wii.

Standard Definition.

Basically, the digital before HD. I don't know about you guys in the states or wherever, but Australia has it quite obvious. There are 5 HD channels on free TV here (I think), whereas the rest are SD (which used to be shown as analogue).

Oh! I remember now. Thanks! I had 1080i, so I don't have to worry...

Yet it'll still be somewhat bad graphics due to the "i"
