Unreal 4 on Wii U

Just wanted to make sure everyone sees this to clear up any misunderstandings that they have.  The internet is so filled with doom and gloom that the truth is unfortunately masked to the point where several of my friends dont know that Wii U will have Unreal 4 support.  Source:

I think it's been known for ages that Unreal Engine 4 can be customised by a developer for the Wii U (and from what the article says, other platforms as well). However, Epic Games themselves have no desire to make a game on the Wii U using that technology.

 

Actually, it's been known for a long time IIRC.

A third party would have to want port a ur4 game bad enough to convert the engine from x86 to power isa, and then optimize it to the wii u's specific architecture.

Not very good.

Although, i dont really care about ur4 anymore, since its official weak consoles have already completely gimped the engine before they even released.

SVOGI has been officially removed from ur4 COMPLETELY, even pc version, because the ps4 cant handle it.

So every ur4 demo youve ever seen, and all the cool real time effects they showed off?

All gone. Replaced with higher resolution versions of ur3 solutions.

That means that content pipeline throughput tgey used to brag about? All gone. Back to spending hundreds of hours tediously prebaking. No wonder they stopped talking about it.

There is now very very little difference between ur3 and ur4.

I think i understand now the real reason why mark laughed at the infamous question.

ps4 can handle unreal 4 what u talking about...And im also sure wii u can handle unreal 4 also!

When did they do that?  The GI technique was the shining achievement that made licensing the product worth it.

You don't understand, it can handle U4, but not the complete featureset.  If what 3Dude just said is right, and they removed PVOGI even for the PC version of the engine, then it means its just an enhanced version of U3.

I really disliked the dude for what he did, so immature and unproffesional, I don't even want to know how douches like him get jobs but good sincere people struggle. Maybe I should flush all my values down the toilet, It's the only thing that seems to work these days.

Its true. The ps4 straight up just gimped the next generation of pc games because its too weak.

Instead of pc gaming returning to its rightful place, its already been taken out back and shot before the gen even began.

This means another gen of fake prebaked lightmass for lighting, which means hundreds of hours tediously prebaking lighting everytime any aspect of a room is changed. The content pipeline throughput promise has been retracted. UR4 will not speed anything up, and the lighting wont be doing anything new, just more/better res versions of the old stuff.

This also means game budgets will continue to balloon out of control, and the gap between AAA and self funded will continue to widen, wiping out a,b, and c teir games, and any means of innovation or any hope of something new, in favor of focus grouped cherry picked mechanics specifically chosen to appeal to the games media circle jerk hivemind....

Another generation of pure suck. Yay.
