The first time i ever felt tied to a character was the 2 scenes in the Batman Arkham series.

 

These made me realize Batman is like every other person out there that lost their parents to violence. Rocksteady did a fantastic job reimaginating  the death of Batman's Parents.

But i want to make an honorable mention. Ni no Kuni, the beginning, or should i say the first 30 minutes will leave you in tears and remind you on how much of a strong bond losing a mother at that such a young age with no father but your friends taking care of you. If Drippy was not lifted by the curse, Oliver/you would have been all alone with no parents.

I have too many to mention, so I'll just go with the earliest one I can remember.

Suikoden 2, Jowy to be precise. Starting out as your best friend, being torn away from each other and then ending up as leaders on opposite sides of a war. You can guess what happens at the end, you're still friends, you have so many memories together but one of you has to die. Didn't help I was 12 xD I probably wouldn't tear up at it now but... yeah, good times.

I'm really a big crybaby when it comes to games though, I guess they just strike a chord that other media doesn't.

Oh, definitely some parts in Heavy Rain. 

Some of the scenes of suspense are incredible in that game. It also has some emotional parts as well.

I love this ending cinematic. Every time I watch it It kind of makes me sad and happy. I'm not quite sure why but it probably has something to do with me wanting to be 11 years old again.

No More Heroes was one of my fav  games on the wii, and ok,  maybe this wasn't really emotional, but it was a very powerful image and sound in a video game.. and it stopped me in my tracks when I heard this track being belted out... top stuff
