Company-wide, Nintendo recorded poorer sales than last year, when the company made its historic first ever loss. It avoided a repeat performance entirely due to currency exchange gains, which pushed an otherwise disappointing result to 7 billion yen (£46 million) in the black.

Despite the doom and gloom of the past two years' financial results it's worth remembering that Nintendo remains a rich company, with 1.45 trillion yen (£9.54 billion) in assets.

as NOLLOG said, nintendo is rich, they are a successful business company, despite what uninformed people on social forums and media say, they will be alright, as they always have since they entered with the NES.

this may be a stupid question, but who would be mad for Nintendo finally making profit?

The Wii U may not be doing too hot right now, but the 3DS is doing just fine; that's how they're making money.

I don't think there are many people (with common sense) who are doubtful of Nintendo's future as a company. More are just doubtful of the WIi U's future.

To be fair, Nintendo has only reported a loss during one fiscal year. No other home video console maker can claim the same. Ever.

Judging by their bank balace even if the Wii U did fail we still got 80 years of Nintendo gaming bliss left, if they havn't succeded within 80 years then I think they deserve to die lmfao!

The problema is not how much money they made as profit in the fiscal year. The problema is that in their main business they lost a lot.
They made a profit because of other investments and such - which made up for losses - and the weak yen.

Nintendo does have a lot of money in the bank, but they have to answer to investors too.
