Are blue shells ruining Mario Kart for you?

I like the idea of an option button to turn them off if you wish, however most of my mariokart multiplayer was local multiplayer with my family and they didnt stand a chance unless they had the blue turtle shell or the bullet bill

Hell no, they balance the game. Without it, you'd have people getting in first and staying that way for the whole match.
You say that you want to win by skill and not luck, but Mario Kart has always been based on luck. The items you get are random, if you're the fortunate one of get three mushrooms at the start of the race, you have a good chance of winning.

MK Wii had the worst item balance ever. It ruined the game for me. Imo MK DS had the best in terms of balance, and there fore was more enjoyable. MK 7 is an improvement over MKW but once in a while it still does a "get a blue shell in 3rd place" bs. What they should fix is the item balance, that's about it. The blue shells don't bother me, I just don't think you need them if you're in 5th place or something.

Yeah I agree, it is more the balance of weapons that ruined the game. It's just not fun getting hit by a red shell, then a blue shell, then a bullet bill all in the space of 30 seconds.

It doesn't ruin it, It balances the game, gives noobs a chance, and it still requires skill over luck.
It would be lovely to turn it off though.

MK wii campain blueshels had issues, 4 in a lap on the smallest levels BS. but i like the DS one more, it hits the people in the middle of the road on the way to first. blueshells help 2nd-4th place mostly, the person who gets it rarly benefits unless it hits people on the way(in the middle of the track). but the wii version were you get hit constantly from first to last is terrable. DS version is better balanced. hated the wii version storm cloud things.
dont remove blueshells. rebalance items.
also the 1st place got well ahead in wii version so easly because the second and 3rd place had to worry so much about the people behind them getting good items to slow them down alot.

I actually like the blue shell. It would be good to switch items on and off for other players though.

I agree with Blake, And i have no problem with them, Sure they get annoying when you're about to cross the finish line then BOOM, someone passes you. But other then that i don't have a problem with them.

I like them, I never played mario cart as a "fair" racing game. I always liked how the game was so crazy and you could go from first to last in 10 seconds.

You can do like me: be sure to be far ahead of the second, actually so far that you could get hit by two blue shells and stay first...
