Hi.  I have a quick question regarding the light next to the power button on the Wii U console.

For some reason when I turn off my console the light sometimes goes from red to yellow/orange and then switches back to red a few seconds later. I heard that the yellow light means that the console is in standby mode but I am not downloading anything since I normally do not hook up my console to my ethernet cable.  Does anyone know what this is all about?

It still checks for things to download even if there isn't anything.

If it is the same as the Wii, the yellow light means it is connected to the Internet, and the red light means it's not.

but i do not have it connected to the internet though...strange

i usually connect my ethernet cable to the wii u only when I need to download updates and the occasional free contents.  After that, I usually unplug my cable after i turn the console off.

Well, then I don't know. I don't have a Wii U yet, so I'm just making an assumption.

Er, did you ever own a Wii? It shows that its downloading something you've downloaded while turned off, they informed us in the latest Nintendo Direct about the big update.

well, i have never owned a wii so I guess I'm not used to this.  But still considering that my ethernet cable isn't even connected to the wii u its weird that it would do this.  I have the latest update so I don't think there is anything else to download.

I also don't have wifi so this is the most peculiar thing i have ever experienced.

I was just afraid something was wrong with the console, I guess there are no problems.

Yeah well if you wanted to download a demo or DLC, or even an update that failed to start up, it downloads them while turned off.

Nah there's nothing wrong with it, but it does heat up when it has the yellow light on so you can just unplug and plug in the power cable.

well that is a relief truly.  Anyway the light turning yellow has always been temporary so far and does turn back red after a few second so i suppose its not a big deal.

Thanks for the info.
