If Nintendo bought or merged with Sega, what would happen you think? Would they keep the Sega name? Make a new brand name?

More importantly, however, Retro then could restart one of Sega's old IP's not being used. So then, which IP would you want to see brought back?

I would like to see them do Phantasy Star. However, they have a long list, so what would you like to see?

Visa versa, would you like to see Sega or one of their studios do a Nintendo game? Maybe help make a Mario, putting them in a shared universe? Try to make a Star Fox maybe?

Imagine and post the possibilities!

They would keep the name obviously, pointless to change it.

If nintendo wanted to revive a sega game, they would get sega to do it :s

Also Sega make a mario game o.0... i have no idea how that would end up

Sega make a Star Fox game... first i was thinking "they have no experience in those type of games" But after thinking about it, besides nintendo and retro, there isn't any other game company i would trust the game too, they make good stories, good CG animations, and if nintendo helped them to NOT rush the game, it would probably end up being good. (As you can see by my signature, am a Star Fox fan).

I would have them make an F-Zero game, because they have proven themselves with F-Zero before.

Nintendo is pretty respectful when it comes to history and SEGA so the name will stay.

I'd like to see Nintendo (Intelligent Systems) work on Valkyria Chronicles
and Monolith Soft on Skies of Arcadia

I wouldn't necessarily want to see Sega work on Nintendo franchise unless it was F Zero since GX was good.

In my eyes, they pretty much have already merged. There mascot has 3 exclusive games coming to console, a bunch more gamegear vc titles, and still 4 more other sega games coming to wii-u.

I'm hoping that with this "merge", sega will dig deeper into their bag of franchises and revitalize them, like vector man, clockwork night and (drum roll) streets of rage!

You wanna talk about a system seller, a HD trilogy followed by a streets of rage 4 for wii-u....wow

And on a side note, its pretty safe to say sonic will return in the next smash bros.

iirc Nintendo has all exclusives for the next Sega games, right? I can see them merging but they are essentially already there. I don't know if they would or not, it depends on if it makes business sense to both companies and they can merge there corporate culture. Most likely I see Nintendo buying Sega but maintaining it as an independent resource.

Just Sonic games, and two of the three we know about. There is one mystery title. Lost World is pretty mysterious, though, as we officially only got a screen shot.

But you are right, they pretty much have allied themselves to be brothers in arms. Poetic justice, I guess. The two grandfathers of this industry together, making games and profiting together.

F-Zero would be a natural fit. Totally forgot about that back in the day. Which proves they can handle a high speed game, such as Star Fox! ^_^

Good ideas and comments everyone! Let's keep it coming.

There's also 4 more sega games coming to wii-u. Sega announced that a few weeks ago

I would think so since what was announced was an exclusive partnership.  I understood that to mean totally exclusive, as in all future Sega games (not just Sonic) would be Nintendo exclusives.

Cant see it happening.

If Sage made the move to Nintendo then they would only be making games for them and not Sony or MS any more.

It would seem that way, otherwise, they should have announced some titles for the other systems too.

Sega belonging to Nintendo would probably be one of the best purchases Nintendo could ever make. Sega has a ton of great franchises that could and should be revisited.

Besides the obvious ones, i would like to see Virtua Cop, Virtua Racing, Daytona, Scud Race, Panzer Dragoon coming back.

Also, wouldn`t mind giving Sega Starfox. They already did well with F-Zero. It`s time they get something new and a Starfox fits well into their catalog as probably Fire Emblem.

Panzer Dragon! That's the one I was thinking of.

And I agree totally. Forget the talent Sega has under its belt, The IP's alone make the purchase worth it. The talent will just be icing on the cake.

Cant see it happening.

The whole point is to imagine if it does happen. Whether or not will it isn't the question or topic. Although, as some pointed out, it's kind of happening all ready with Sega and Nintendo being buddy buddy.

I honestly have no idea how good or bad Sega`s games have been. But even if they aren`t as good as before, Nintendo has some studios competente enough to handle their franchises. Of course, with Nintendo`s guidance they could also improve - like Retro.

If Nintendo bought Sega, it would fill almost every hole Nintendo is missing in terms of genre selection, unless Virtua Racing and Daytona aren't simulation racers (I haven't played either, wasn't really a Sega or racing guy)
