I've never played the new OoT 3D but am going back through the Zelda games and, since I currently don't own OoT on any platform, I am trying to decide whether to shell out the cash for OoT 3D, or just download the Virtual Console version of the original and put the money I'd save towards a different 3DS or Wii U game.

Thoughts?

*EDIT*

and sorry, I realize that this kinda has to do with Wii U games but probably belongs in General gaming.  Please move if necessary!

OOT3D is an amazing remake even though it doesn't really add new content (except for Master Quest, which is good for one playthrough) but the graphics, controls and you name it are just way better. Plus, it's on the go. You don't have to pay 40/50 euros for it anymore I think, you might get it for cheaper.

If you can get OOT 3D under £20 then i'd say go for that, if not then go for the VC one, there really isn't much difference besides boss rush mode and Master Quest (that is if you want to do master quest). If you really do want to do Master Quest then get OOT 3D.

Go for OoT3D. Improved graphics, item interface, boss rush, and a master quest mode which almost completely changes how you go through dungeons.

You definitely won't regret spending the extra cash.

Interesting! So is the Master Quest only unlocked after beating the normal version once? And it includes remade dungeons?

Get the original. Don't you want to have the same experience people did when they played the game for the first time back in 1998? Plus with that money saved you could get DK Country Returns (if you have never played it before on wii then it is a must-buy).

Get it on 3DS, better graphics, in 3D, different controls, easier water temple... and another mode after you finish the main game!

I highly recommend the 3DS version, it has better graphics, has more content, and the touch screen functionality is a great addition.

Interesting! So is the Master Quest only unlocked after beating the normal version once? And it includes remade dungeons?

Yes, and Master Quest mirrors the entire world, increases the difficulty of the enemies, causes you to take double the damage you usually take, and remakes most parts of the dungeons to increase difficulty. The dungeons aren't completely different, but they are different enough to make it interesting.

There is really no reason to play the original unless you don't have a 3DS. The remake looks a lot better and at a more consistent framerate, it has a better inventory and User Interface, the Iron and Hover Boots are items instead of equipment, makimg for a less tedious Water Temple, which also was made less confusing (not in design, but in clarity), you have Boss Rush, and you have a mirrored Master Quest.

Of course I've played it! :) It's my favorite game of all time and the game I always played as a kid.  But it's been quite a long time since I've played it and I want to get it again.

3D definitive version.

Since you've never played, you won't get what this means but....quick changing iron boots. 'Nuff said.

Since you have never played any Zelda game ever in your whole entire life I would say this is definitely a good place in the series to start, as it is by far the best game out of every Zelda game ever

Its is the Pokemon Red/Blue of Zelda games; if you will.

I would recommend getting it on the 3DS, You can probably get it between $25-30 now and the 3D is absolutely gorgeous in the game (however you will need to turn it off when you use the bow or slingshot) ((Not that you would know what a bow or slingshot is since you've never ever played a zelda game huehuehuehue))

I'd get the 3D. Portable and you get more graphical goodness.

Depends. If you want to go with the genuine experience, then go with the original. If not, go for the 3DS one, as it's smoother.
