A tornado ripped through Oklahoma City today, plowing through thousands of homes, and most likely killing hundreds of people. It obliterated several schools, and there are many children missing. There was nearly no warning, and most got no warning. 6 have been confirmed dead, but things are not looking to hopeful for the thousands who were in their homes. Even if they all miraculously survive, 1000's will be left without homes and all their personal belongings will be gone. Keep these unfortunate souls in your prayers.

UPDATE- 7:30 ET-37 dead, 7 of which are 3rd grade children. 24 children still missing, however it is very unlikely they are alive. Once night comes on in an hour, it will be nearly hopeless for those trapped.

UPDATE-9:15 ET- 51 dead; 38,000 plus w/o power.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

This is horrible...

I live in Oklahoma, so this, of course, hits a bit too close to home.

While I can't understand why anybody lives in Oklahoma to begin with (if I had a choice in the matter, I would be far away from here), I especially can not understand why anybody lives in the OKC area. They know even better than I do that the area is flat out dangerous. This isn't even the first bad tornado to hit Moore in recent years. The OKC area gets hit by tornadoes yearly. They don't always hit populated areas, but every time one of these outbreak occurs, that area is always right under the gun.

I don't want to downplay the tragedy of what happened here, I just can't for the life of me, understand why people remain in that area.

I completely agree, it's the same as floridians and their hurricanes, I just don't know how people can deal with it!

It's reasons like this why I am content with living in New York. I don't think I would be able to deal with knowing that something like hurricanes, earthquakes and twisters or whatever it is could kill me and destroy everything I worked for. Plus take down most of a city.
