New footage from New Super Luigi U was shown during today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation. The downloadable title will be 1.5GB and will be available todownload on June 19th (JP), June 20th (US), June 20th (UK). The retail version of the game will be available to purchase July 13th (JP), August 25th (US), July 26th (UK).

New Super Luigi U will feature eighty-two brand new courses and will feature the same world map as New Super Mario Bros U. Mario won’t be appearing in the game and will instead be replaced by Nabbit in multiplayer, who cannot be harmed by enemies, but cannot use power-ups. Each of the levels will only have 10seconds in the clock, so it’s going to be tight. Will you be purchasing New Super Luigi U?

I feel the exact same way. No doubt there will be an unlockable at the end like you can play as Peach or something that will make me play through it again. Mario Land on the 3DS did that for me with Luigi.

This game is trash. Don't waste your money on it. It's the exact same thing as NSMBU, except with Luigi playable as player one. I'm not supporting Nintendo's "laziness" by purchasing a game where levels were modified.

Hmmm... I might get it, but, as much as I love physical copies, I think I'd get the download version. Even $10 is too precious to me to get the physical copy. :P

Its hardly "trash". It is DLC, so it shouldn't be judged as a full retail game. After all,  it is half the price of one. The only reason there is a physical copy is so people who don't have much memory can still buy it (I'm guessing) since it is "large scale" DLC and Wii U doesn't have a huge amount of memory.

Same. I will probably be skipping this one. I own NSMBU, and have yet to complete it. Think i only logged like six hours into that game, and have no motivation to pick it up again.

I like that it looks harder than the original. But such a tight timer? I like time challenges, but for an entire "game" it might be a bit too much.

No sig.

definitely not I already have Mario Bros. U.... looks like something to get if you haven't bought a WiiU yet and want to play with the new parameters over the Mario Bros. U. Don't really see the point at all.

So if I don't own New Super Mario Bros. U, will I be able to play this game? It claims to be DLC but it seems like it could stand alone. Any thoughts?

Its both DLC, or you can buy a physical disc so if you don't own NSMBU, you can still play.

DLC is 19.99, disc is $29.99
