I wanted to be a meteorologist back in high school. :D Only to be music major in the end....

I don't know how up-to-date you guys are with the weather, but if any of you live in the Northeast region, this is something pretty serious! I will be in the storm's path, so I may suffer from power-outage. I really hope that college isn't cancelled. I was really looking forward to going back to school!

Anyways, Irene is expected to reach North Carolina as category 3, even though the projected path is still pretty shaky because it is difficult to make an accurate path of the storm. The storm is predicted to reach the mid-atlantic as a category 2 or strong category 1. (This is a larger than average hurricane, so even if it doesn't make direct landfall...there will still be widespread damage. There is already mandatory evacuation set for those living by the east coast shore. Thank goodness I live away from the shore. xD

I will continue to watch this hurricane. :) So...tell me your thoughts on this hurricane? Is it a big deal or not? xD

Just because I love meterology here is is the Saffir-Simpson wind scale for reference. :D
Category 1: 74-95 mph
Category 2: 96-110 mph
Category 3: 111-130 mph
Category 4: 131-155 mph
Category 5: 155+

To quote a friend: "a hurricane is just a fat tornado."
I can't possibly agree any more with that. :P

This is kind of un-related, but the power went out in our neighborhood. Not because of hurricanes, but because of lighting... and we needed it! Texas had a drought, so yeah.

But other than that, there's no hurricane coming our way. I do feel a little worried for those guys in the east.

It's "Safari-Simpson (wind) scale"

Anyways, I think it is somewhat serious, but I haven't really any knowledge of what kind of Hurricanes are "normal" in America.

I (well, me and my dad) was/were scared that it would hit Miami, as a family relative is flying from Europe to Miami and then to Belize to come visit us. We are happy her flight wasn't delayed.

If you live in warning areas, you should evacuate when they tell you to (unless you have a really well built concrete house).

I hope that this won't cause overly high damage to the US as they're already going through some trouble right now...

That's right! You guys are suffering from a drought! D: You guys totally need a hurricane. lol

Well...hurricanes aren't normal at all unless you live in Florida. :P There have already been evacuations east of my state. D: It's a pretty scary situation. Luckily many houses here in my area are pretty sturdy. I will just expect fallen trees and power lines...but you never know what will happen. >.>

Mother nature hates the East Coast.

I...can't say I'll be affected all that much. I mean, I live in Missouri, which is well away from the coast. :S

This is about hurricanes. xD

In other news, my area is officially in a tropical storm warning. Scary enough...the county next to my county is in a hurricane warning. O.o I really hope the hurricane stays to the east of us, but based on the projected path...the hurricane is moving closer to the west than expected....

The weather effects are interesting, though... Over in New Mexico, we've been having a drought, but since Hurricane activity, there have been several bad storms. It may just be a coincidence, though.
My Aunt lives in New York, so I hope she is doing well...

My neighborhood survived the storm. :) We had no power outage, while the other neighborhoods in this city had power outages! I live in such a good neighborhood. :D

That storm was very rough though.
