This would be awesome.

SMS is pretty much my favorite game of all time... :o

Though if there were a sequel, I want to be different. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was almost the same as Super Mario Galaxy (save for the levels).

Super Mario sunshine was my 2nd favorite next to SM64. It has always bugged me to this day that they didn't make super Mario sunshine 2. If they make galaxy 3 or something I'll be pissed.

What if you were on Delfino Island for the most part but you could also travel to other places from previous Mario games and even have some classic side- scrolling levels. Wouldn't be cool to see FLUDD in side-scrolling action.

sounds like Epic Mickey

I'm all for a Super Mario Sunshine 2, whether it'd be on the 3DS or the Wii U. I've never played the original, but a lot of people have said that it was a very good game, so I'd like a new Sunshine game. Failing that, the original game on the Wii U's Virtual Console would also be very nice.

I hope it would not be on 3DS! I hate when a home console game gets a sequel on a handheld. Look at what happened with the Wind Waker. It was a crazy game. It got two sequels on DS and, even though they werent bad, they didn't feel the same, and were much more focused on gameplay.

I think they should look into taking Mario into a different direction, like they did with Super Paper Mario. Maybe make a 3D Mario adventure title with more of a storyline like SPM - it was pretty impressive if I recall correctly.

You're kidding. Super Mario Sunshine was the worst mario game I've ever played. They tried to put a LoZ world in a Mario game and it doesn't work. You get lost constantly and often forget what you're doing. Super Mario 64 is amazing, and the Galaxy games are even better, but Sunshine was an unfortun ate dark time in Mario's history.
Expansive and exploratory is great for Zelda, but it just makes mario boring.
They should be making a new 3d mario game, a successor to the great Galaxy 2. If not that, then Super Mario 64 with 2 player co-op.

That game really is the best 3D mario ever. Had some great concepts, and I loved flud. He really added some new gameplay to the mario series. I'd love to see a sequel, especially with more of those pit of death levels without flud :)

To each their own I suppose. I personally was not a fan of Galaxy, and because of that, I never did buy Galaxy 2.

Super Mario Sunshine 2 would be great for the Wii U by using the Game Pad for multiplayer like having one person as Shadow Mario and do a chase like in the original one.

I remember a big thing about Sunshine was the fact you could vary the flow of water with the analog trigger on the GameCube controller. Neither Wii U nor 3DS have these types of triggers. It would seem like going back to playing the Wii version of Twilight Princess right after playing Skyward Sword. It would annoy the crap out of me.

However, I'm sure that if they decide to make a sequel, they'll make it work somehow...

As long as we don't have Mario: Nuts and Bolts im happy.
I could see Sunshine 2 taking place on Wu-Hu Island as it is slightly similar to Isle Delfino. (Small city with massive volcano behind it)
All though I want to see a mario game inside a massive town outside of the castle.

I doubt a sequel will come because myiamato said that the game play wasn't accessible enough

That is one hell of a picture my friend!!

A sequal to this game has been number One on my wanted list since almost Ten years back!! Please Nintendo, don't remake this on the 3DS .. just make a sequal!! But if U insist on an remake instead .. do it for the Wii U.

I am very interested in gaming and mostly I play the super mario game because I am big fan of this game .Super mario sunshine was one of the best game among the all games of super mario. This is really a solid game with distinctive features, but if it has more quality music then it would be much better.

That's what I'm concerned about too. I really don't see why they dropped analog triggers. <_< I also remember a similar function in Luigi's Mansion to control the power of the suction.

I still don't get what the big deal is. I always just pressed it all the way down, never really had to do it lightly. Never did play Luigis Mansion, but I assume I could've played it in a similar manner.

When I remember playing SMS when I was younger, there was more areas on the map than available to you when the judge tells Mario of his crime. We could see a hypothetical add on to the game, like the new Elder Scrolls expansion. More levels would be good, along with a two player mode (and maybe a four player once you beat the game), waterproof Yoshis, more F.L.U.D.D. nozzles (make E. Gadd upgrade him along Mario's adventure with coins obtained from stages and/or episodes(like a Swiss Army Knife), and indefinetely use some of the SMG2 ideas, like having your own place to crash (without rent) with new people coming every episode/stage you complete.

P.S. Petey was one of the best bosses I ever faced, along with King Blooper. So make them appear in variations according to the geography of the stage/area.

I suppose they could do without it. Analog triggers would be sort of nice to have, but oh well. It's probably too late for Nintendo to change their minds.

I think that they should make a Super Mario Sunshine 2 for 3DS and then make a completely new Mario game to make the best use out of the gamepad.
