“As a company, we like the Wii U. We really believe that the second screen can add a new dimension to gaming. We’re still big supporters of that system. We have just as many games coming out on Wii U this year as we did at launch. So we like the second screen. We think there are opportunities with all these games to extend them – to another person, to another location. We’re taking it very seriously.”

“It’s not necessarily next-generation, but it’s next-generation thinking. We want to extend the experience to whatever screen is handy. We have been looking for ways to take advantage of these second screens. Those companion apps are our first attempt at doing that.”

In a way, they're kinda right, Ninty showed that their Next Gen in terms of Game innovation but it doesn't match the other consoles specs so its not really up in that category with them. This comes as a surprise considering several sources are saying that Wii U is close in power to the XOne.

I wonder how long they'll port games to the Wii U. Probably as long as they release games cross gen? I wonder if Assassin's Creed 5 will come.

My guess until the games aren't worth spending to port over and they're not seeing a big enough return. Or will soon stop completely when they no longer make any XBOX 360 or PS3 games.

I'm curious when this shift will happen. A lot of the games now require a minimum of 3 million in sales to remain profitable. If they shift a game series to only next gen then they could lose a lot of money. If a game like Assassin's Creed 5 ends up only being next gen, there could only be 15-20 million PS4/Xbones on the market. Typically they sell over 10 million AC games, but I can't see them getting close to those numbers with such a small install base. They're either going to have to support PS360 for years, or at minimum support the Wii U.

The only reason they require that much money is because they aren't being smart about where the money is spend, 3 Million is a Amazing amount of sales, if you aren't making profit from that, then you're doing something wrong. stop spending development time on putting nose hairs on people and more time working on the gameplay.

As long as they sell. That's the answer your looking for.

I agree, but if a game uses so much of the PS4's hardware (all the RAM) I don't think it can be ported to the Wii U.

I suppose. I guess it all depends on this Holiday. On Gaf there's a rumor the Division and The Crew will be cross  Gen. I expect Wii U support from Ubi at least through next year.

To the bolded, multiplats won't, assuming sales pick up like they should. Exclusives, maybe.

To what you said to me, I think sales will pick up. A lot of system sellers going into 2014.

Sometimes you just can`t have it all. And in Nintendo`s case, just doing what others are doing wouldn`t be enough. So it`s good they went the direction they went.

We will still have great looking games like X, MK8, Bayonetta 2 - Wave Race ?! - and we still get two screens.

I say the trade off is worth it.

Hope at least Ubisoft invests some time in using the gamepad for something cool.

What would next gen thinking even mean? The Wii U versions (assuming they don't half-ass it) of multiplats would be like a PC game on low, and PS4 games would be like a PC game on Medium. It will be noticeable, but not that much different. Also, multiplats will use 3GB of RAM at most on PS4/Xbox 1; anything else will make costs higher than they should, and we will jave more Tomb Raider situations.

Yeah you're right, they have a lot of heavy hitters coming this holiday and throughout next year.

Also, looking at the PS4 and Xbox One exclusives, they don't really impress me to be honest.

Exactly. Nothing Sony or MS is better than X. I've never witnessed graphics so detailed and beautiful in my life.

oh yay, more developer drivel. I like how so many can say the Wii U is under-powered but yet don't provide any info on what it is actually lacking that would keep them from releasing on the platform.

No matter how much 3Dude, MorbidGod and Routerbad try to spin it, developers will always view the Wii U as being greatly underpowered compared to the XB1 and PS4. It may not really be that underpowered but apparently devs don't care. the fact of the matter is Nintendo should of made the Wii U at least as powerful as the Xb1.

Well seeing as Ubisoft made an awesome opener in Zombie U they obviously have plans for the Wii U. Great news I say.
