The concept of stickers is a good invention to the series and really adds flavor to the worlds. A more questionable invention is the use of dispensable stickers during battles. In fact, it seems the battle system has actually gotten less advanced and less fun since Paper Mario 64. Gone is the leveling up system, replaced by simply HP collecting. And the button-mashing type aspect just isn't as fun. All other things remain in tact.

The worlds and concepts are a step forward for the series, and what you would expect from a modern 3DS game. The battle system is questionable, especially at this point.

A nice entry to the 3DS game library, but with so many other great 3DS games, some may wish to keep this game on the backburner for a little while.

My score: 7.5/10

I still haven't played it yet, but I am going to eventually. I hear that it's still a great game even though they changed up the battle system.

I rate it 5/10, I think the sticker system completely ruined the game. I just want it to be the same as it used to be, because that is when I enjoyed it!

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

There's a thing called innovation. I think they needed a new battle system because Super Paper Mario's battle system was awful and boring.

I agree SPM's battle system was boring. I was talking about the original Paper Mario, and the thousand year door, and Mario RPG. They all had amazing battle systems. Innovation only works when it improves the game. Sticker Star made battling tedious, because you had to pull stickers off if EVERYTHING, why not just have the badges for moves like the old days, when the games were actually good. Don't fix what isn't broken. Sticker Star took a perfect game and obliterated it with its gimmicky sticker combat that made them game annoyingly tedious. Sometimes innovation is good, but some times it just ruins something that didnt need to be changed in the first place.

I guess you're right, but I quite enjoy the new battle system. :P I think TTYD had the BEST Paper Mario mechanics in the franchise. The only thing I don't like about SS is that there is no story. :/

The worlds are definitely not interesting and not a step up. They are boring and the game has pretty much no story in the only 2 worlds I bothered to complete. I hated it.

What's wrong with SPM's battle system? I liked how as I levelled up enemies got weaker and weaker (or to be precise mt defense went up) and I didn't have to drop into battle just because I came across a goomba while backtracking. In the fisrt two attack and defense was the same, but you got less and less starbits as the game cotinued, making battling small foes not woth it. In SPM battling small foes gives you the same amout of starbits, but the levelling up was more logramithic.
